ATQLD proudly congratulates our SQW Business and Construction trainees on successfully completing their traineeships.
Over the past 18 weeks, participants have developed valuable skills, gained hands-on experience, and built the confidence needed to take the next step in their career journey. We are thrilled that some graduates have already secured employment and look forward to seeing many more achieve the same success in the months ahead.
A big thank you to our host organisations: Aussie Helpers Gladstone Community Linking Agency. Community Legal Centre & Multicultural Services, Gladstone MindCare, Gladstone Area Promotion and Development Ltd (G.A.P.D.L), Anglicare Central Queensland, The Shelter Collective, and Calliope River Historical Village PCHS Inc, for providing supportive environments where participants could learn, grow, and succeed.

At Oricaโs Yarwun Manufacturing Facility, we produce necessary products for mining, agriculture, and infrastructure industries, including sodium cyanide and ammonium nitrate, supporting critical industries globally. With a passion for safety, sustainability, and helping our people grow, Orica employs over 250 Gladstone locals on-site.
In partnership with Apprentices and Trainees Queensland, Orica seeks applicants for a Mechanical Fitting Apprentice opportunity in Gladstone. This position will commence in ๐๐๐ซ๐ฅ๐ฒ ๐๐๐๐.
As a Mechanical Fitting Apprentice, you will be responsible for tasks including:
- Conducting work safely, following written and verbal instructions, and developing safety risk assessments, including Take 5 personal hazard assessments and job safety assessments
- Carrying out routine site maintenance on equipment such as pumps, fans, and valves
- Investigating faults and identifying suitable solutions
- Working collaboratively within a maintenance team

- Ability to complete and pass Explosives Security Clearance (essential)

Jake is one of our participants in the Skilling Queenslanders for Work program, currently completing his Certificate I in Construction.
Through his placements with The Shelter Collective and Calliope River Historical Village PCHS Inc, Jake is gaining valuable hands-on experience while learning the importance of workplace safety, teamwork, and communication in the construction industry.
By working alongside experienced supervisors and team members, Jake is developing practical skills, building confidence on the worksite, and gaining a greater understanding of the responsibilities that come with working safely and effectively as part of a crew.

Hands-on learning in action โก
Our first year electrical apprentices Cai and Kaleb, hosted by RAD NRG, are currently working on the installation of a 15kW solar system featuring a 10kW inverter and 30kWh battery setup to provide partial home backup power at a remote property.
This is a great opportunity for the lads to gain valuable real-world experience across solar installation, battery systems and advanced electrical work while continuing to build their skills in the renewable energy sector.
Great work Cai and Kaleb, and a big thank you to RAD NRG for providing quality training and exposure to ensure future success in their trades.
