Giant Steps, located in Gladesville (Sydney) and Kew (Melbourne) operates a school and adult services program for children and adults on the autism spectrum. The world leading program is trans-disciplinary meaning intensive occupational, speech and music therapies are combined with educational programs catering specifically for each student/participant. The team approach at Giant Steps provides ma

ximum support to families through the provision of home programs, support for siblings and frequent consultation with parents and carers. All students engage in a full range of activities which are adjusted using a variety of autism friendly strategies. Giant Steps has had remarkable success teaching children on the autism spectrum to communicate more effectively, integrating them into mainstream schools, helping them develop functional life skills and providing them the opportunity to reach their potential. Giant Steps is open to students from all walks of life, is nondenominational and does not charge fees.

This term, our classes have been getting their hands dirty in the greenhouse!

Students began by planting their own seeds in the classroom, once the seedlings started to sprout, the class carefully transported them to the greenhouse, where they planted them and continue to water them on their weekly visits.

We can't wait to watch them grow through Spring! 🌻

Today, we’re celebrating a very special milestone birthday for someone who has been at the heart of Giant Steps for an incredible 29 years.

Meet Claire, our Admin and Finance Director and joint leader. Her tireless dedication, commitment and passion have helped shape Giant Steps into the organisation and community it is today.
