Celebrating our ESOs & Support Staff

Last week we celebrated our Education Support Officers and Support Staff and the important role they play in our St Brigid’s community.

Across the week, members of our support team work alongside our students and teachers, providing care, encouragement, patience and practical support in so many different ways.

We had a little fun getting to know them better, filled our walls with some very personalised posters, and said thank you with a plant and a chocolate treat.

It was a chance to recognise the people who do so much, every day, to support our children, our teachers and our school.

Thank you to our wonderful ESOs and Support Staff.

Grade 3/4 Camp Adventures!

What a couple of days for our Grade 3/4 students at Lady Northcote!

From canoeing and archery to taking on the giant swing and winding down together around the campfire, there have been plenty of opportunities to try something new, challenge themselves, work together and have a whole lot of fun along the way.

Here are just a few highlights from their camp adventure!

Cheering on one of our own!

A few familiar St Brigid’s faces were down in Geelong to cheer on former student Lachy Hay as he pulled on the Tasmania Devils jumper for their VFL final.

It was especially lovely to see some of our families and students there supporting Lachy, after being inspired by his visit to St B’s and the message he shared with our students earlier this year.

Pretty special watching one of our former St Brigid’s students continue to chase his footy dreams - with plenty of the St B’s crew cheering him on from the sidelines!

Book Week at St B’s - What a day!

There was so much fun, colour, creativity and joy around St B’s as our favourite book characters came to life for Book Week.

We know just how much time, thought and effort goes into making days like this so special, and we loved seeing the excitement on our students’ faces as they arrived ready to celebrate all things books and reading.

These photos are just a tiny snapshot of the many fabulous characters who filled our school today!

A huge thank you to our families for getting behind the fun and helping make Book Week such a memorable celebration for our children.

Happy Book Week from St B’s!

Literacy Learning at St B’s

As we celebrate Book Week, here’s a little look at some of the literacy learning happening across St B’s this week!

Our Prep students have been exploring the ‘ee’ sound, finding it in words like bee, as well as putting their own ideas onto paper as they write about their weekends. Our Junior students have been busy building their confidence with tricky words and word families.

Meanwhile, our Year 3/4 students have been working on creating “sizzling starts” to hook their readers into their narratives, while continuing to build their reading fluency.

Lots of reading, writing, thinking and creating happening in our classrooms!

667 items. 300kg. One incredible community effort!

Our Minnie Vinnies have once again shown what can happen when our St Brigid’s community comes together to help others.

Thanks to the generosity of our students, families and staff, an amazing 667 food items - weighing 300kg - were donated to Gisborne Community Care Foodbank, helping support local families experiencing food insecurity.

Our Minnie Vinnies were very proud to deliver the donations and see firsthand where all that generosity goes. A huge thank you to our Faith leader Alex and our Minnie Vinnies for leading the drive, and to every family who popped something into the collection.

Small acts of kindness can add up to something pretty amazing!
