The Faces Behind Gentle Sensory ✨

Although you may only see Maria at the Warrnambool office, there are two faces behind the name and history of Gentle Sensory: Pauline and Maria. 👯

Stemming from their personal lived experiences of being neurodivergent and raising neurodivergent children, both are extremely passionate and dedicated to providing the best support, empowerment, and care to the community.

When Gentle Sensory says we hear you, see you, and understand you, just know that they truly do, and we are always here to support you.

Our Gisborne Team 🌟

It is very rare to see this many team members all at once in the office, so when it occurs, we definitely need to get photo evidence 📷

Saying what you do for work with wrong answers only 🤷🏻‍♀️

I have had many clients say to me "I'm sorry if this is a stupid question but...". When it comes to ensuring your therapist is right for you, the following questions are never stupid:

1. What is your experience working with individuals like me?
2. What are your qualifications?
3. What approaches do you use?
4. What if I find that your approach doesn't suit me?

A good therapist would never shy away from easing your mind and providing you with freedom of choice and control. There is never a stupid question when it comes to your mental health and wellbeing.

Time to Reintroduce Myself 👋🏻

Hi, my name is Emma Brown. I am a registered paramedic and the Clinical Health and Wellbeing Practitioner at Gentle Sensory.

What is a Clinical Health and Wellbeing Practitioner?

A Clinical Health and Wellbeing Practitioner integrates clinical knowledge, psychosocial support and person-centred care to support holistic health and wellbeing across biological, emotional, social and systemic domains.

My work is grounded in relational, trauma-informed and neurodiversity-affirming practice, prioritising psychological safety and collaborative care.

I work alongside individuals, families and multidisciplinary teams to provide coordinated support, promote self-understanding and capacity-building, address barriers to accessibility and contribute to safer, more inclusive systems and better health outcomes.

✅ My Specialist Areas

Neurodiversity: Offering neuro-affirming support that celebrates different ways of thinking and being.

Trauma, Nervous System & Complex Emotional Regulation: Particularly CPTSD, rejection sensitivity, burnout, interoception, emotional regulation, relational safety and the interaction between trauma, neurodivergence and systems of care.

📝 Clinical Focus
I have extensive experience supporting individuals navigating:
• Emotional regulation and rejection sensitivity (RSD)
• Neurodivergence and executive functioning support.
• Chronic illness, fatigue and daily living adaptation
• Care coordination, systems navigation and health integration

👩🏻‍🎓Qualifications & Background
I am committed to evidence-based practice, backed by a Bachelor of Paramedicine and lived experience as a late-diagnosed autistic person

School is returning next week and the holiday homework is… untouched. 🗓️🛑

Before you start the lecture, watch this. Your teen’s brain doesn't need more pressure; it needs a strategy. We’re talking:
✅ The "Novelty Swap"
✅ Task Ladders
✅ Body Doubling

Stop the "Sunday Scaries" before they start!

We are so grateful for Pride Foundation Australia and their support to helping us bridge the gap for LGBTIQ+ neurodiverse young people♥️

Last year, Pride Foundation Australia ran one of our largest grant rounds to date, advertising a funding pool of $100,000 towards projects that are building and supporting LGBTQIA+ inclusive rural and regional health services and their partnerships to organisations with significant expertise in LGBTQIA+ health and inclusion.

With so many impressive submissions, the committee decided to move forward with funding seven projects and increasing the total funding amount to $114,811.25.

Please join us in congratulating:
Gunditjmara Aboriginal Cooperative
Murray Bridge Day and Night Surgery
National Centre for Farmer Health
Bendigo & District Aboriginal Co-Operative
SHQ - Sexual Health Quarters
