๐ŸŒฟ I came home yesterday to find this thoughtful gift from my teacher. The box contains a few essential edible weeds/herbs and the 2nd picture is a bowl full of candle nuts.

โ˜€๏ธ Our countries first nation people used a splint with them to create light. The same nut us widely used in Polynesia and last year when I went to Hawaii I saw them and used them. They are called Kukui nut over there and they are also edible and delicious!

โ˜€๏ธ The beginnings of my edible weeds apprenticeship with an Australian Edible weeds and Permaculture master.

Today I had the pleasure of spending some time learning all about common weeds that are literally everywhere and what foods and medicine many of us are missing out on when we pass them by.

Here are these amazing hearty plants that are full of goodness to gift us, yet so many of us are conditioned that they are pesty weeds and we choose to purchase so called foods from the super market! On page 1, we have gotu cola, which is literally everywhere! Packed full of healing properties and known as "the elixir of life" ๐Ÿ”ฅ

It's time to reclaim our ancient knowledge and re-wild and re-learn our connection to these beautiful beings that are just waiting for our attention!
๐ŸŒฟ Power to the plants!

๐ŸŒถ Kick'n Kimchi & Kahuna kraut ๐ŸŒฟ is here!

๐ŸŒถ This batch of Kimchi was made with Green cabbage as the seasom for Wombok cabbage is nearly over. This kimchi has a lovely spicy kick to it and sweet potato and fennel have made their appearance once again (back by popular demand)! $13 a jar.

๐ŸŒฟ The kahuna kraut is super zingy and a touch softer than usual as the warm weather speed the fermentation process along a little quicker than normal so I am selling these babies for $8 instead of $15. Still packed full of the beneficial bacteria and is uber tasty af!

โ˜€๏ธ Pick up both for $20!

Byron shire friends, I am heading to Mullumbimby tomorrow for 1 night only so if your keen to grab some let me know asap.

Brisbanites, I'll be back Wednesday night for pick up and potential delivery for a small fee ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿฝ

Some of the bounty of today's forage ๐ŸŒฟ

Today I spent time with an Indigenous man who showed me some of the delicious bush tucker and exotic species in the local area. Anise Myrtle, black Sapote, Custard Apple, Quandong, Finger Lime and Tamarillos. There were also other foods I sampled along the way.

Such a blessing to learn more about our medicines, food, weaving materials and traditional weaponary. In an era of increasing disconnection, I find myself wanting to rewild and spend more time in our natural world.

Thankful for the plants that sustain, grow and Inspire us. Power to the plants ๐ŸŒป

Over the weekend I got to experience Girraween National Park. In the local language, it means 'wild flowers' ๐ŸŒธ

Fires have ravaged through this park some time ago so there wasn't many flowers. Yet, there was beauty in its raw state, a state of transition. Fire burns away the old and furiously makes way and space for the new. Through the embers of fire, the ash, new sprouts of green, grey and pink foliage is starting to come through ๐Ÿ”ฅ

Although I dont normally appreciate the Aussie bush in this state, I came to see and appreciate the beauty of this transformational state this park is going through. So to in our own lives, if we only appreciate the lush, the perceived beauty, the flowers etc...we miss the beauty that is also present in our own raw states. When we come to love it all, we rise beyond the 'good times' and can see, feel and know the seasons within our own lives as not only necessary but beautiful and rich โ™ฅ๏ธ
