J (4) and D (3) chose to do some drawing. J drew big swirls and announced it was a big tornado. We talked simply about what tornados are, and how they are so strong they can sometimes blow roofs off houses, blow cars over, and blow away your trampoline. We looked at the map of the world and looked at where tornados usually happen (rare for them to happen in Australia near us).

J wanted to draw a house under his tornado but didn’t know how to draw a house. Drawing houses interested D, and he quickly also drew a tornado and joined in. We looked at using squares, triangles and rectangles to draw a house, and they each drew a house under their tornado.

Now, how crazy is it that yesterday we just happened to have THREE tornados in NSW. 🌪

AHOY THERE MATEYS!
Every year we have ‘pirate week’ and celebrate International Talk like a pirate day to help raise awareness for childhood cancer. Although this year was cut short with another lockdown, it was still huge hit with the children, as we spent many hours going on pirate adventures, treasure hunts, engaging in role play, making pirate crafts etc.
