It’s Book Week!
Today we focused on the classic story “Mrs Wishy-Washy” and had a fantastic time bringing the book to life! Our learners loved making their farm animals muddy before giving them a good wash, just like Mrs Wishy-Washy.
They also created barns and homes for their animals and enjoyed retelling the story using props and imaginative play.
We are looking forward to delving into different books over the rest of this week!

STARRY, STARRY NIGHT – POSTPONED 🌧️

Unfortunately, due to the forecast of heavy cloud cover and rain this evening, Starry, Starry Night has been postponed until next Friday, 28 August.

The expected weather conditions will make it difficult to use the telescopes effectively and enjoy the night sky as planned. We’re hopeful that next Friday will bring clearer skies and provide a much better stargazing experience for everyone.

Please note the revised timings:
6:00pm – Families arrive and enjoy a BYO picnic dinner followed by star gazing.

Thank you for your understanding and flexibility. We look forward to gathering next Friday for what we hope will be a wonderful night under a clear, star-filled sky!

On Friday we celebrated Principal's Appreciation Day!
Mr John, we thank you for the positive impact you make every single day. Your leadership, kindness and unwavering commitment to The Heights help create a welcoming and supportive environment where students can learn, staff can thrive and families feel valued and connected.
Thank you for the countless hours you dedicate behind the scenes, for your guidance, encouragement and vision and for always putting the needs of our students at the heart of everything you do. Your genuine care for our school community does not go unnoticed and is deeply appreciated.
We are grateful for all that you are and all that you do. Thank you for leading with integrity, compassion and purpose.

We hope you had a great day Mr John, and that you felt appreciated and valued. Our school is better because of you!

The Adventist school community is coming together in love and support for Miss Leah Stewart.

As we continue to keep her in our thoughts and prayers, we will be holding a special M***i Day on Friday, 26 June to raise funds for Leah, her partner and their young daughter.

All learners at The Heights Learning Community are warmly invited to “Shine Bright for Miss Stewart” by wearing bright colours and by bringing a gold coin donation. Every contribution will go directly towards supporting Leah’s family during this difficult time.

A GoFundMe page has also been set up by Leah’s brother, Joshua, for those who would like to make a direct contribution — https://gofund.me/140bd6191

This week, The Heights Learning Community proudly recognises National Reconciliation Week.

As a community of learners, we are committed to deepening our understanding, showing respect, and valuing the cultures and contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. Together, we walk forward with purpose—learning, listening, and building a stronger, more united future.

Today we celebrate the mums, grandmothers and mother figures who care for, guide and support the young people in our community. Your love, encouragement and quiet sacrifices make a lasting difference in the lives of our students every day.

We also recognise that Mother’s Day can be a complex day for many. We remember with gratitude the mothers who are no longer with us, hold in our thoughts those who wish to be mothers but cannot, and celebrate those who are soon to begin their journey into motherhood.

We honour all the women who nurture, encourage and invest in the lives of others in our community. Thank you for the care and love you share so generously.
