Throughout 2022 the Year 3 & 4 students of Gidgegannup Primary School - Independent Public School have been writing letters to their Pen Pals in Emu Plains in NSW. This project has not only improved their letter writing skills but allowed the students to explore the differences in geography, life styles and time zones.
Last week students utilised the technology available at school to 'meet' their Pen Pals via Zoom. They are planning to have another 'meet up' before the end of the year.

On Friday, Gidgegannup Primary School hosted a visit from the Commissioner for Children and Young People - Jacqueline McGowan-Jones. The Commissioner is independent and works to increase the wellbeing of all children and young people within the state. One of the ways she does this is by advising government, not-for-profit organisations and industry on what they can do to improve their services for children and young people.

A small group of students meet with the Commissioner and discussed a range of topics that were important to them i.e. access to sporting facilities, public open space, supermarkets, the cost of fuel, bushfires, health care, environment, global warming, dogs, chickens and the list goes on.

This was a wonderful opportunity to show case Gidgegannup Primary School, our students and our community.

Last week Scitech came to visit Gidgegannup Primary School - Independent Public School. All students had the opportunity to visit the Space Dome and take part in a 'hands on' workshop.
Opportunities such as these provide a 'shared experience' that can be used in the classrooms later. After their 'shared experience' some of our younger students wrote a recount!

Wednesday 21 September was Gidgegannup Primary School - Independent Public School Annual Open Night. The choir opened the evening with a performance before classrooms were open for families to visit. Events such as this provide a wonderful opportunity for students to share their work and for parents and carers to chat with the staff.

Did you know that Gidgegannup Primary School - Independent Public School has a Sustainable Garden?

Our Sustainable Garden Committee made up of staff and P&C members are busy planning for the revitalisation of the Sustainable Garden which will include up graded reticulation utilising our new water tank donated by Gidgegannup Primary School P&C. The plans also includean Indigenous Inspired 'Bush Tucker' garden.

Yesterday students from Year 1 & 6 spent some time weeding in preparation for next terms planting.
