πŸ’ CELEBRATING OUR AMAZING SASS STAFF πŸ’

Today we want to shine a very well-deserved spotlight on the incredible SASS staff who are truly the backbone of Gerringong Public School. ❀️

Our school simply would not run without you. From supporting our students and teachers, keeping everything organised behind the scenes, caring for our children, solving problems, answering a million questions and always being there when someone needs a helping hand β€” you do it all!

So much of what you do happens quietly, but the impact you have is enormous. Your kindness, patience, dedication and genuine care help make GPS the wonderful school that it is.

To our amazing SASS team β€” THANK YOU! Thank you for everything you do, every single day. We see you, we appreciate you and we are incredibly lucky to have you as part of our GPS family. 🌊❀️

The confetti has settled, the glitter has finally washed off, and the lights have gone down...

We’re filled with gratitude and excitement reflecting on the incredible Southern Stars experience. Our students showed remarkable resilience and dedication, pouring their hearts into every step and note on the dance floor and in the choir. This opportunity has given them amazing exposure to the Creative Arts, allowing their talents to shine brighter than ever. πŸ’ƒπŸ•ΊπŸŽΆ

A huge thank you to our devoted teachers who made it all possible:

🌟 Ms McPhillips – for her exceptional organisational skills, ensuring so many Gerringong Public School students could participate both as dancers and choir members.
🌟 Mrs Egan – for her outstanding organisational role and choreography that brought energy and sparkle to every performance.
🌟 Miss Steeles – for championing the choir and blending beautifully with our young performers.
🌟 Mrs Brooks – for her vital and unwavering support throughout this journey.
🌟 Makenzie Morris – for being there backstage, ready to assist wherever needed. 🎭
🌟 Mrs Mundey, Mrs Binks, and Mr D – for their invaluable help behind the scenes doing make-up, finding shoes, and whatever else needed doing!

To every student who took part – your hard work, courage, and passion have inspired us all. We couldn’t have done it without each and every one of you. Here’s to many more shining moments together! πŸ’™πŸ™Œ

🌟 KINDNESS IN ACTION 🌟

As part of our Character Strengths initiative, each fortnight we’re focusing on a new character strength. This is a school-wide focus on recognising positive choices and building student wellbeing. For weeks 7 and 8, it’s all about KINDNESS!

Kindness means caring about others and doing goodβ€”even simple actions can make someone’s day brighter. Staff and leaders will be looking for students who show kindness at school.

Kindness looks like:
πŸ’› Helping someone who is sad
πŸ’› Waiting patiently for classmates
πŸ’› Helping without expecting a reward
🧑 Including others in games
🧑 Giving friendly compliments
🧑 Asking before we speak: Is it true? Is it necessary? Is it kind?

For the next two weeks, let’s notice, show, and spread kindness. Staff will celebrate acts of kindness with our special blue waves.

Let’s make our school a happier, kinder place together! πŸ’«

🌟 A BIG SHOUT OUT! 🌟

A huge thank you to Mrs McPhillips, Mrs Egan and Mrs Brooks for giving our students the incredible opportunity to perform at Southern Stars! πŸ’«πŸŽΆπŸ’ƒ

The time, organisation, dedication and countless hours that go into preparing our students for an event like this is enormous, and we are so grateful for everything you have done.

Thank you for giving our students an experience they will remember for years to come. We truly appreciate you! β€οΈπŸ‘πŸŒŸ

At our teachers' meeting this afternoon our Executive Producer, Neal Reed, and NSW Teachers Federation President, Henry Rajendra, thanked hundreds of staff members for their tireless efforts in ensuring Southern Stars continues to provide performing arts opportunities across the Illawarra and many other regions in NSW.

Without the teachers' hard work and commitment to their students it would simply be impossible for Stars to exist.

Mr Rajendra said there are students that without Southern Stars, would never have the opportunity to perform on the big stage.

"Many of our students come from complex backgrounds, and without their teachers' encouragement to participate, would never have had this chance.

"It's a credit to public education, and through these teachers we are seeing public education at its very best."

A big thank you to our Presenting Partner the NSW Teachers Federation for their continued support to our teachers, our students and our show!

To our wonderful teachers...take a bow. 🀩
