WA Football Volunteer of the Year - Midwest Region Finalist
Peter Lawer - Warriors Football Club
Peter has been a coach at Warriors FC for over 15 years. He played for the club form the age of 13 and his coaching career began at the age of 17 where he took on the role of player coach for the colts team. He has coached all levels from league to nippers, but now focuses his time and energy on the junior competitions.
With no children of his own, Peter selflessly devotes his time to the club. He currently coaches the nippers (U9) and youth (U13) teams and has been a general committee member for 10 years. He is also part of the clubs’ leadership group and a life member of the club.
When Peter isn’t coaching his two teams he can be found assisting coaching the colts team, helping out as water runner or filling in as umpire. Peter is described as a genuine bloke who would do anything to help his football community and the club would be buggered without him.
Congratulations Peter! The winner of the 2024 WA Football Volunteer of the Year will be announced this year at the WAFL GF on the 22nd of September. Goodluck to all nominated!

Murchison Marlu Junior Football League - Committee
It'd be hard to find just 1 volunteer in the Murchison so we've decided to recognise the whole committee! We’ve seen massive growth this year and that’s because of the awesome people behind the scenes! Last Saturday a visit to Cue saw this in action, all hands were on deck and no job was too big or too small for the amazing volunteers. It’s incredible the amount of work that happens to give young footballers the opportunity to play our great game in such a remote region!

Steve Trent – Rover Football Club
You just know that when you go to Greenough Oval to watch the footy that you’ll be greeted with a smile and friendly chat. That’s because you can guarantee Steve is working the gate! One of the friendliest people in the football community, and a massive asset to Rovers, he is the first person you’ll see on game day, but also willing to lend a hand with odd jobs wherever needed behind the scene. A natural salesman he never fails to sell footy budgets and raffle tickets as well!

Dezi Webb – Chapman Valley Football Club
Dezi is an outstanding role model for the Chapman Valley Football Club and wider football community. She plays an active role on both senior and junior committees, always willing to give up her time to take up a volunteer role on game day. Her work ethic behind the scenes without praise is what makes her such a valuable member of the footy club, epitomised by her tremendous efforts washing the jumpers after last weekends matches in the mud!

Claire Garnaut – Brigades Football Club - Juniors
Great Northern Junior Football League
Congratulations to Claire who has been nominated as WA Football Volunteer of the Year. As the current Youth Girls coach she has been commended by her club as a great educator to her players/team, showing great support, teaching skills and also guidance in their learning. As well as these coaching skills she maintains a high level of respect for everyone involved, often seen shaking hands with all players, umpires, and team manager/coaches before and after games. On top of this she is a current player in the Brigades Football Senior Club Womens team (who can be seen every Saturday morning helping out with the AFL Auskick Geraldton centre).
