🌱🥕 From Garden to Plate! 🥬🌱

This week our Quokka’s had a wonderful time harvesting fresh carrots and lettuce straight from our Little Kingdom veggie garden. The children carefully picked, washed and prepared the vegetables before enjoying them as a delicious side salad with their homemade lasagne at lunchtime.

Experiences like these help children develop an understanding of where food comes from, encourage healthy eating habits, and foster a love and appreciation for growing their own fresh produce. We are so proud of our little gardeners and all the care they have shown for our garden! 🌿💚

Incursions like these provide wonderful opportunities to inspire curiosity, spark imagination and create joyful shared experiences for all of our children.

A huge thank you to Poppy Bubbles Performance for such a fun, engaging and memorable visit. We can’t wait to have you back! 💙🫧

🚒🔥 What an exciting morning at Little Kingdom! 🔥🚒

Today we were lucky enough to welcome the amazing Geraldton Volunteer Fire & Rescue Service to Little Kingdom for a very special visit.

Our children enjoyed learning all about house fire safety before getting a close look at the firefighters’ protective gear. They loved watching one of the firefighters demonstrate how they put on their full firefighting uniform and seeing just how important all of the equipment is to keep them safe.

There were plenty of smiles as the children had the opportunity to try on the firefighters’ helmets and jackets, explore inside the fire truck, and even have a turn spraying the fire hose! 🚒💦

Experiences like these help children build confidence, develop an understanding of community helpers, and learn valuable safety messages in a fun and engaging way.

A huge thank you to the wonderful team from Geraldton Volunteer Fire & Rescue Service for taking the time to visit our little ones and share your knowledge. We truly appreciate everything you do to keep our community safe! ❤️👨‍🚒👩‍🚒

❤️💛🖤 NAIDOC Week at Little Kingdom ❤️💛🖤

This week at Little Kingdom, our children have been immersed in meaningful NAIDOC Week celebrations, learning about and celebrating the rich cultures, histories and traditions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

Throughout the week, the children explored a range of hands-on experiences, including creating beautiful Aboriginal inspired arts and crafts, drawing traditional symbols in the sand, listening to Dreaming stories, participating in our Acknowledgement of Country, and engaging in conversations about the importance of caring for Country and respecting the world’s oldest continuing cultures.

These experiences encouraged curiosity, creativity and respect while helping our children build an understanding of the significance of NAIDOC Week and the importance of reconciliation.

We are honoured to learn, play and grow together on Yamatji Country, and we are committed to fostering a sense of belonging, respect and appreciation for First Nations peoples every day, not just during NAIDOC Week.

Thank you to our wonderful educators for creating such meaningful learning opportunities and to our families for supporting our children’s journey of learning and understanding.

❤️💛🖤

This NAIDOC Week, our Little Kingdom children and educators proudly shared their voices through a special Acknowledgement of Country. ❤️💛🖤

As our children learn and speak these meaningful words, they are developing an understanding of the importance of respecting the Traditional Custodians of the land, their cultures, histories and ongoing connection to Country.

At Little Kingdom, we are honoured to learn, play and grow together on Yamatji Country. Through experiences like these, we are nurturing respect, inclusion and a lifelong appreciation for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and cultures.

Together, we continue to listen, learn and walk alongside First Nations peoples.

❤️💛🖤

🌊✨ Whilst our Quokka’s were enjoying their sustainability incursion, our Puggles and Bilbys were busy learning through play too!

Our Puggles explored their senses with a blue gelatin ocean-themed sensory tray. This taste-safe experience encouraged curiosity as the children touched, squished and discovered the different textures, supporting their sensory development in a fun and engaging way.

Meanwhile, our Bilbys celebrated Plastic Free July by creating beautiful artwork using recycled cardboard. This creative experience encouraged their imagination while introducing the importance of reusing materials and caring for our environment.

The Bilbys also practised their transferring skills, carefully moving sand from one bowl to another using spoons. This hands-on activity supported the development of hand-eye coordination, fine motor strength and independence—important skills that contribute to many everyday tasks.

What a fantastic day of exploration, creativity and learning across our centre! 💙🌱🎨

Today we were lucky enough to welcome two very special visitors – the Food and Gardeners in remote Australia! 🇦🇺🪏🪴The children had so much fun getting their hands dirty as they planted a variety of new plants in our garden beds and pots.

They were also fascinated by our new worms, carefully observing them before helping to create a cosy new home where they can thrive. This hands-on experience sparked lots of curiosity and meaningful conversations about nature, composting and how worms help our gardens grow.

The Quokka’s can’t wait to continue caring for their new plants and worm friends, further developing their understanding of sustainability, responsibility and the importance of looking after our environment. 🌿💚
