HALLEY MILE | PRE-ATHLETICS CARNIVAL EVENT
Approximately 70 students, competed in less than ideal conditions, in our annual Halley Mile race today.
The Halley Mile is named after an exceptional student and athlete, John Halley who won the race 3 years running back in the 1940's. Following his tragic death during active service in Korea, his mother, in his honour was the donor of an annual award for the race.
Today the Halley Mile was won by Year 9 Jayden Le Roux followed by Clint Meyer (Year 10) and Hunter Wright (Year 9). First girl to cross the line was Nevaeh Hill (Year 9).
Congratulations and well done to these and all participants who were brave enough to give the event a go. 🌟

Last Friday, a group of our Year 11 and 12 Dance students represented our school wonderfully in the annual Act Belong Commit YOH Fest, which is one of WA’s biggest health themed youth performing and visual arts events. The students are required to construct their own dance sequences on a youth health theme relevant to them to get their message across to the audience. We had 5 dances competing and two dances participating in a half time break show and the girls said it was an amazing experience.

Students in Mr Skillen's Year 10 Chemistry class have been conducting an investigation on the rate of chemical reactions. In this experiment they collected the carbon dioxide gas produced when hydrochloric acid reacts with marble chips. They were able to demonstrate that a more concentrated acid reacts faster than a dilute acid.
