This week we have been busy making our own Easter egg baskets ready for today’s Easter egg hunt! This morning we went outside together to explore with our baskets to find some yummy chocolate eggs! 🐰🍫

We would love to wish all our Families and Friends a safe and Happy Easter!
Thank you so much Sharna and Ready Set Grow for the water bottle.
It really made my day to be included in Educators day
Nursery Halloween sensory play.
Getting into the spirit of Halloween we gave the children cooked spaghetti which had been dyed with food colouring. In amongst the spaghetti we hid creepy spiders, black rats and eyeballs. The children excitedly pushed the noodles around squishing and tasting and finding spooky surprises.
Congrats RSG for your float in the Parade . The kids were so ecxcited to see you guys .
Well Done Great Effort 🎉🎉

This morning the nursery children have been enjoying the sunshine outside, we decided to engage with some paintbrushes and water. The children used their fine motor skills to move the paintbrushes from the water and onto the ground, they also painted their legs and feet with the water. Everyone took turns in putting their brush into the water and painted the concrete all together as a group.

This week the nursery children engaged with some sensory activities. We were able to use our fine motor and hand eye coordination skills to do some ball painting, playdough and spaghetti play! The children enjoyed feeling the spikes on the ball and watching as the paint went onto their paper. While outside we used our senses to explore some spaghetti, everyone enjoyed eating it and feeling it between their fingers. We used some playdough cutters to make some shapes and animals with the playdough in the afternoon.

Spring is here and with the weather starting to warm up.. What better way to cool down than some ice play! This experience gave children the opportunity to explore their senses using resources such as ice cubes and soft pom pom balls. They used their fingers and hands to mix through some purple paint. During this experience children interacted verbally and non verbally with educators to express what they felt, what they could see, and even what they could taste. Children described the ice as feeling cold and sticky and the pom poms as squishy and soft! Children were then able to see the ice melt and turn back into water! ☀️🌿❄️🤗

This morning educator Meg took some helpers into our veggie garden to check our fresh produce that we have been growing. Together our children picked some fresh lettuce, silver beet and some passion fruit! This ongoing learning experience enables children to become socially responsible and to show respect for the environment. Children showed an interest in exploring relationships with living and non living things and could observe and notice change in the growth of their plants and fruit 🥬☀️

📒📚 BOOK WEEK 2021 📚📒

Today our centre held our annual book week dress up! Our children and Educators came to daycare dressed up as one of their favourite book characters. Dressing up gives the children the opportunity to explore their imagination through role-playing and enhances their language and communication skills. Throughout this week we have read many of our favourite stories and have extended from these through arts and craft.

Don’t they look great! ☺️

On Friday the nursery children made some Weetbix Slice for afternoon tea. The children were able to use their fine motor skills to manipulate the wooden spoon and measuring cups to mix and add the ingredients all together. The children enjoyed making them and eating them for afternoon tea!

To help bring awareness to Red Nose Day, the toddlers participated in a gluing activity this morning. We had lots of different red items to explore, like feathers, crepe paper and glitter. We also encouraged sustainability by using our recycled materials such as scrap paper and red bottle lids. The toddlers were very enthusiastic as they used their fine motor skills to glue their items onto their noses. During this experience, the children had a discussion with their educators on the importance of Red Nose Day and how we can all help.

This afternoon in the Kindy room we explored some of our senses with some new water beads. Together we had a discussion about what they felt like. The children described them as feeling like “jellyfish” and feeling “wet”. During this experience the children had conversations with their educators about the colours and what the beads look like, some of their responses were “jelly gum balls” and “jellybeans”! Creating these experiences for the children gives them the opportunity to explore their imagination and curiosity whilst using their senses. 🔴🟡🟣🟢🟠🔵

Thinking about decorating your jeans!? We’ve got you covered! Our Kindy and Nursery children have become wonderful artists today and would happily help you out 😁
Today is Jeans for Genes day and together as a centre we raised awareness by wearing our jeans to daycare and planned experiences around this calendar event 👖
The children engaged in an art and sensory activity involving all sorts of materials including glitter, paint, feathers, Pom poms, wool and more! The children practised their turn taking and worked so well together to make these jeans look amazing!
Decorating jeans isn’t usually a day to day activity, so you can just imagine how much fun was had!!

It’s been a busy week this week in our Kindy room, especially today!
This morning we had a visitor come and teach our children some circus skills. We started today’s visit with some basic activities which also gave the children to opportunity to meet their teacher, Soyela. The children practised many skills such as hoopla-hooping, bean bag catching, lizard crawling, crab walking and more! 🦎🦀 We used many parts of our body to move and jump about! The children thoroughly enjoyed their time with Soyela. They expressed this by listening carefully to instructions, asking questions and were encouraged to have a try. This opportunity invites the children to participate and engage in a physical activity indoors. Physical activity has many benefits in children such as building confidence, Develops motor skills, builds strength, flexibility and endurance and much more.

We send a big thank you to Soyela for her time and we look forward to seeing her again next week! 😊

On Wednesday the 4th of August we celebrated National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Children’s Day.
Together as a whole centre we acknowledged the colours of their native flags by using these colours to paint a banner. We placed our hands in the paint and stamped them on white material to make our handprint! We labelled each hand with their individual names which made these prints personal to our children and families, this creates a sense of belonging throughout our centre.
We have displayed our banner in the foyer for all families to see ❤️

In the Kindy room our current project we are working on is a Volcano. This has been an ongoing learning opportunity for the children to come together and brainstorm ideas on what the project will be. Our children are always expressing their interest in making volcanoes in the sandpit and were very excited to make their own Volcano! Together they watched a video on our smart board about how to make volcanoes, from this they brainstormed what materials they would need to build it. Children collected recycled materials to build their volcano structure which were donated by a member of our community and have since started the paper mache process to make it stronger! They are getting more and more excited as they see the progression of the volcano, and can’t wait to make it erupt! Children demonstrated their ability to transfer and adapt what they have learnt from one context to another and developed a range of different skills such as enquiry, experimentation and researching.
Watch the space for our eruption once it’s completed! 🌋🌋🌋🌋
