Hey everyone. We are so happy to say Elevate Dance Eisteddfod have been in touch with us and have kindly offered to support the Geraldton community by bringing their dance competition to Geraldton to ensure everyone has an opportunity to perform and shine on stage. They are currently seeking expressions of interest from all studios / dancers. The proposal is to run a weekend event either on 26-28 May or 9-11 June.

They would love to get an idea of interest before confirming the event as they need to working quickly to fit this into their existing schedule for 2023!

Elevate have asked if people can please submit their potential entries if interested using the following links:

They are also very happy to discuss with studio owners / principals.

Syllabus and comp details can be viewed here:

The venue would be Geraldton Grammar School.

You can contact Elevate on the following email if you have any queries at their email [email protected].

We are so happy that you guys will have a chance to display the amazing talent you have in Geraldton. As we say every year the kids in Perth are spoiled for choice but not everyone has the opportunity to get to Perth for those comps so to have one on your local town allows everyone the chance to step out on stage.

We hope this can get off the ground for you all and just know that we (Kate, Trina, Charlize and Emily) will be cheering you on from afar xx

It is with a heavy heart that Trina & I have decided not to run our competition this year.

There are many reasons but the biggest ones are that Trina will be in her final semester of her nursing qualification. The second one is that my CRPS pain condition has been getting steadily worse as it now affects my legs and on most days I am unable to function normally. I can not guarantee that I would be able to make it through the weekend, not to mention the hours & hours of preparation.

Please know This decision has not been made lightly, we get so much enjoyment in bringing this competition to Geraldton but we would rather cancel than provide a substandard event.

If we find that my health improves and Trina is available to devote more time then we hope we can reinstate 2024 as a bigger and better event.

We are so sorry to disappoint those of you who love performing, as our fundamental purpose has always been to bring the opportunity for the kids who don’t have the opportunities to compete in perth and we love seeing the confidence grow in all competitors. We do hope that if this has inspired kids to dance then perhaps you may be able to take your kids on a little dance weekend in Perth. We want to thank you all so much for supporting us over the past few years and we wish you all nothing but the very best for your 2023 dance year.

Just a heads up folks that as the situation stand at the moment all teachers, dancers and spectators will require proof of vaccination for 16 yr olds and above. This of course may change as anything COVID related has over the past 2 years but we will advise you if this changes.

Welcome to Comps-Online 04/02/2022

We are so pleased to announce that our Geraldton Competition is up and running. Please click the below link to take you to Comps-Online to enter.

All fees remain the same, and we will also have a small entry fee for spectators of $5 per session. (once we know how many sessions we will advise the season pass price.

The competition runs on the 17,18 and 19th of June at our favourite venue Queens Park Theater.

Please spread the word to all of your dancing friends and family.

This year we have approached some of the dance schools further north that may like the opportunity to travel to Geraldton as opposed to Perth, so if any of you know anyone that dances in remote locations the please mention this to them, and how much fun it is to come along.

In the meantime, any questions or the like please pop us a facebook message us, or pop us an email to [email protected]

Cant wait to see all of your smiling faces in June...

Hi Everyone we are pleased to announce our competition will be held at Queens Park Theatre 18th, 19th and 20th June 2021.

Due to COVID restrictions with the theatre There will be limited seating which will go on sale when programming is completed. It will be a low price approx $5 per session. We will introduce more sessions and try to keep same age groups in sessions so we can give as many people as possible the opportunity to watch.

We are excited to be back up and running but of course it all depends on COVID and restrictions.

Our entries will be online at Comps Online on Monday 22nd February 2021 the cut off date will be the 30th April 2021.

Thank you for your support and we will let you know the adjudicator soon.

21/03/2020

Hi Everyone,

Here is an update from the email that went to all dance schools Thursday night..

So it is with heavy hearts that we are writing to inform you that we are going to cancel our competition in Geraldton for 2020.

Unfortunately but understandably Queens Park Theatre are closing the theatre until 30 June 2020. The bottom line here is that all of you stay healthy and this awful virus does not spread any further.

We will be refunding all entries within the next 2 weeks.

We feel so sad and sorry for those kids who have started learning routines and have purcahsed costumes already so we re in the process of putting togerther an online option for everyone. (The entry fees will be drastically cheaper of course as our overheads are obvoiously much much less) We dont know what is going to be happenning with schools etc, so during these crazy times we thought that it may be something fun that the can prepare for. They can contuine to practice their dances, and then before the cut off, send in their non-professionally filmed routines, We will still award first second and third places, and if we get enough entries we can still offer cash prizes and our major individual awards, along wtih some other encourgaement awards.

We will put together something in the next week or so, but in mean time would welcome any feedback or suggetions you may have. All adjudication (from a professional adjudicator) would happen on the same weekend we were initially coming, and we are thinking we will have a "live" announcement of the results for everyone.

Rest assured we will be back bigger and better next year, hopefully we can secure Stephen Tannos again next year but if not then we promise to bring you someone just as amazing.

Sending you all lots of love at these crazy unprecidented times and hope that all of your studios will get through this awful situation.

Kind Regards,

Kate & Trina,

An update on our position in relation to the COVID-19 virus.

We are in talks with Queens Park Theatre and are watching the news with bated breath waiting for any updates as they happen.

As it stands right now, the Queens Park Theatre has seating for 505 in their down stairs seating, and as we block nearly a full row for the adjudicator then we fall under the 500 maximum gathering rule imposed by the federal government.

We will, along with Queens Park Theatre be diligent in ensuring there is sufficient hand sanitizer available for every specator and competitor to use, and we will have signs reminding everyone to wash their hands with soap and water as frequenlty as possible.

We are taking this matter extremely seriously, but will be doing every thing possible in our power to keep this event going. Having said this the rules are changing on a daily basis so in the event that the Federal, State or Local Government impose restrictions that mean we are unable to go ahead we will issue refunds (minus any fees charged by paypal and comps online, as these are out of our control). We have also decided to keep our entries open till the end of April as we should have a clearer picture of the situation by then.

Our first priority is the health and wellbeing of all competitors, teachers, venue staff and spectators, so please know we will be keeping you all up to date should we be forced to change our position.

Thanks all for your understanding, this is such an unprecidented time, so please stay safe, and lets all hope that by June the stringent measures the government has taken will mean the infection risk has been greatly reduced and we can all lead our normal lives again.

Kind Regards,

Kate & Trina

Hi Everyone we are very pleased and very excited to announce our 2020 adjudicator for our GERALDTON Competition is the AMAZING 🎉⭐️

STEPHEN TANNOS

Stephen Tannos is arguably one of the most innovative minds in Performing Arts in Australia. His unique and exhilarating choreography, combined with his infectious personality and incredible work ethic has quickly established Stephen, as the most in-demand Choreographer in the country.

Stephen was born in Sydney and has trained extensively in all styles of dance as well as singing and acting. His career took off initially in Musical Theatre with roles in Cats and Fame -The Musical as well as being part of the cast of large-scale production of the opera 'Carmen', Choreographed by Kelley Abbey in 2013.

Stephen has also enjoyed much commercial success as a performer. His credits include working with with Artists such as Ricky Martin, Natalie Bassingthwaite and Jess Mauboy. Plus, in 2009 he was selected to be a part of the Top 20 in the 2009 season of the hit TV show So You Think You Can Dance Australia.

However, it is now Stephen’s choreographic skills and creative direction prowess that are truly making the industry sit up and take notice – both locally and Internationally. It began with showcases and events and then Stephen collaborated with Morgan Choice to create and direct 'Tannos & Choice' with help from Producer Marko Panzic. Their very first production played sold out seasons in both Sydney and Tasmania and received overwhelmingly positive feedback from the public and their peers in the Industry.

Stephen’s stand-alone choreography has been featured on Channel 10’s So You Think You Can Dance Australia (receiving rave reviews from the judges) as well on The Voice AU, The Voice Kids, Dancing With The Stars, Dance Boss and in 2018 Stephen was given the opportunity to choreograph for Rita Ora’s ARIA awards performance. He has also created work for music videos for Artists such as Alpine, RUFUS, Set Mo and Vaudeville Smash. And in 2016, Stephen once again collaborated with Marko Panzic to choreograph and co-direct (with Marko) The Dream Dance Company’s ‘Genesis’, to great critical acclaim.

Stephens latest creative endeavour was becoming the artistic director of the brand new dance company WE ARE DANCE PROJECT. The first show from that Stephen directed and choreographed, FOUND, premiered in March and received rave reviews. Stephen plans to continue helping this company grow and creating more works with them in the future.

Stephen plans to continue pushing limits; creating original, mind-blowing performances as Choreographer and a Director as well as flexing his own performance muscles on select projects. He truly is a one of a kind Artist.
