🎉 Celebrating Casey’s 15 Years at Magic Cottage 🎉

On Friday, we celebrated a very special milestone, Casey’s 15 years at Magic Cottage.

We surprised Casey with all the children waiting in the foyer with balloons ready for her arrival, followed by cake to celebrate this wonderful achievement together.

Over the past 15 years, Casey has been a familiar and caring face for so many children and families. Her dedication, hard work, and genuine care have helped make Magic Cottage the special place it is today. She has supported countless children through their early years and has been a valued member of our team every step of the way.

Fifteen years is an incredible achievement, and we are so grateful for everything Casey has contributed to our Magic Cottage community.

💙 Yesterday we wore our favourite sporting team colours to help raise awareness for Motor Neurone Disease (MND)! 🏉⚽🏀🥎

MND is a progressive neurological disease that affects the nerves controlling movement, speech, swallowing and breathing. By sharing awareness, supporting research, and standing with those affected and their families, we can help make a difference.

The children and educators loved showing their team spirit, sharing their favourite sports, and celebrating the importance of being active, having fun, and working together as a team.

The children had fun playing with balls, practising their throwing and kicking skills, and getting creative by colouring in footy jumpers. 🏉⚽🏀🥎

🩵A champion isn’t always the person who wins the game. A champion is someone who shows courage, strength, determination, and kindness ,qualities that so many people living with Motor Neurone Disease (MND) demonstrate every day 🩵

This Monday, 8th June, we're dressing sporty to help raise awareness for MND Australia 💙

Children are invited to wear their favourite sports team shirt, club shirt, or sports outfit! 🏏⚽️🏀

🍩 National Donut Day 🍩

Today, we celebrated National Donut Day by creating our own donuts using playdough, sprinkles and icing. The children enjoyed putting on their chef hats to roll, shape, and decorate their playdough donuts, adding icing and sprinkles to them before selling them to each other in the donut shop.

To finish off the celebration, we enjoyed donuts for afternoon tea. The most popular flavours were sprinkles and chocolate!

🖤💛❤️ National Reconciliation Week 💙🖤💚🤍

At Magic Cottage, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives are embedded into our program throughout the year, providing children with opportunities to learn about Australia's First Nations cultures, histories, and connections to Country.

As part of National Reconciliation Week, we participated in the Sea of Hearts community project, with the children creating hearts to contribute to the Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) display.

Through everyday experiences, stories, art, music, and conversations, children continue to develop an understanding of respect, belonging, and the importance of caring for one another and our community.

Connect with other parents and learn about baby sleep, play, tummy time, baby cues and more.
Commencing 4 June for 3 weeks | 1:00pm–2:00pm

Purple Book Checks
Health checks for children aged 1–3 years can now be booked online, with weekday, evening (4:30pm), and Saturday appointments available.

These sessions are a fantastic opportunity to gain practical advice, ask questions, and connect with other families.

🌹 65 Roses Day for Cystic Fibrosis 🌹

Today, we recognised 65 Roses Day, a special day that brings awareness to Cystic Fibrosis. The meaning behind “65 Roses” dates back to 1965, when a 4-year-old boy named Richard “Ricky” Weiss first heard the name of his disease and pronounced cystic fibrosis as “65 Roses.” Since then, the rose has become a symbol of awareness, hope, and support for those living with Cystic Fibrosis.

To raise awareness to this meaningful day, we participated in experiences that allowed us to explore roses while discussing the significance of the day and the importance of kindness, empathy, and awareness for others.

In our outdoor environment, we brought the rose theme into dramatic play as the children created their own flower shop. Through this experience, the children explored numeracy and symbol systems as they used play money, bought roses from one another, and arranged floral bouquets for their friends. The children enjoyed taking on different roles within the flower shop while building communication, social, and imaginative play skills throughout the experience. 🌹
