Our esteemed Principal, Mrs Julie Campbell, was formally recognised by the Department of Education this morning for her outstanding leadership as the Principal of Champion Bay Senior High School.

Mrs Lisa Criddle, Director of Education Midwest, presented Mrs Campbell with a "Making A Difference" award and spoke about her commitment to excellence in providing a multitude of innovative academic and engagement programs for students. Mrs Campbell has not only led a distinctive school, but she has led with kindness and care through COVID to ensure a strong focus on continuity of learning, along with incredible support for students and staff.

Mrs Campbell has also shown a commitment to supporting other school leaders in the Midwest and this was acknowledged. Congratulations!!

On Wednesday 6 April, the Year 10, 11 and 12 students who had achieved Good Standing were rewarded with a BURGER LUNCH. 🍔🍔

Staff put together a production line that managed to hand out 150+ burgers. 😮🥰

Those students partaking in Ramadan will be awarded a cafeteria voucher to use in Term 2 for their efforts in achieving Good Standing.

Well done to all those students. 🤩

On Saturday 19 March, the 2022 Year 12 Ball was held at Rovers Football Club.

To start the night, the usual tradition of arrivals was continued. These ranged from a vintage Purcher International truck, a Monaro and a Kombi van, through to a stretch limousine and a Tesla.

Inside, the venue had been transformed into an enchanted forest. Students sipped on mocktails 🍹 prepared by Geraldton LDAG, and then had the opportunity to show off their dance moves 💃🕺 that they have spent the past seven weeks learning during form with CBSHS’s dance teachers - Mrs Corlett and Miss Howard. The night culminated with an epic dance off between Armani Liswaniso and Shareef Mohammad. ⚡️

Awards for the night included:

Best arrival: Holly Turner and Cameron Murdoch 🚗
Mr Congeniality: Harry Calver 🤩

What an absolutely sensational night! Although the uninvited wind blew the red carpet away, the students and their partners shined as they arrived in style at the Geraldton Yacht Club on Saturday night. 🏍

Inside they danced the night away in the Gybe room, decorated by Sweet Orange Productions, and feasted on the delicious food from 𝗗𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗻 𝗖𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴.

No Power, No Problem!!!

The Student Services team and a bunch of volunteer staff whipped up a free sausage sizzle, toasted sandwiches and fruit for all our hungry students at recess today.
Over 400 sausages were cooked and ready for the students after the power outage meant our wonderful cafeteria was out of action.

For the last couple of year CBSHS has assisted the Lions Institute of WA in raising money to assist with funding a Big Day Out for disadvantaged children. 🌞

We will be holding an EASTER HAMPER RAFFLE in week 8 and 9 and are hoping the CBSHS comminity could contribute something to our hamper. 🤩

Anything Easter(ish) big or small will be gladly accepted! No pressure, as we know times are tough, but if you would like to contribute please leave your donation with Jenna in Student Services.😎

The Breathe Basketball Mega Camp aims to encourage all players, no matter where in their journey, to come and learn how to be better basketball players whilst being in a team environment!

The camp is designed for all participants to enjoy the game of basketball to the best of their ability and with equal opportunity for all involved. There will be skills challenges with prizes, stationed drills ran by a specific coach and shooting contests.

This type of camp has not been seen in Geraldton in 30 years and we want to bring it back!

Campers, by the end of the last day, will receive the following:
* A complimentary Breathe Basketball T-Shirt.
* Multiple chances to win a variety of prizes during our skills competitions.
* An evaluation sheet filled out by their team coach with strengths and improvements.
* A better understanding of how to play the game of basketball.

To receive your preferred shirt size, PLEASE register via email by 9:00AM on Thursday the 9th of March!

Yesterday, the year 9 Career Taster Program kicked off with a group of year 9 students who were invited to tour Batavia Coast Maritime Institute (BMCI).

The BCMI offers nationally recognised qualifications, Certificate 1 up to Diploma level, in Aquaculture, Laboratory Science, Conservation and Land Management, Marine and Environmental Science, as well as Maritime qualifications.

Thank you to our tour guide Dan, for your insightful information, along with Central Regional TAFE for giving our students this opportunity to tour and learn about Aquaculture Hatchery.

What a spectacular turnout for today's Mental Health Expo 🤩

Here at CBSHS, we feel very passionate about the most up to date mental health information being available to our students and continue to strive to ensure our students leave our school equipped with the knowledge and resources to be upstanding, strong and healthy individuals who can contribute positively to the wider community.

Our aim was to cover all bases of mental health; mental, emotional, spiritual and physical.

We at student services, pride ourselves on providing a high level of pastoral care to our students, via our Student Services Managers, school psychologist, Chaplains, Student Program Coordinator and School Nurse and the support of various external agencies.

Thank you to everyone who supported today's expo and we cannot wait until the next one! 💙
