Yesterday, our school community came together to support mental health and check in on each other for RUOK? Day. ๐
We kicked off the day with a delicious pancake breakfast ๐ฅ, followed by a special morning tea for staff to encourage conversations and connections. At lunchtime, the fun continued with games on the green hosted by headspace Geraldton, creating a space for students to relax and engage.
The day was topped off with an awesome performance by the CBSHS Rock Band ๐ธ๐ฅ, adding some great vibes to our afternoon!
Remember, asking "Are you OK?" can make a world of difference. Letโs keep the conversation going all year long. ๐ฌ๐

Since 2023, Champion Bay Senior High School has been the official site for the prestigious Australian Music Examinations Board (AMEB) exams. โจ
As Australiaโs national testing body for music, AMEB is endorsed by SCASA and provides students the opportunity to earn valuable WACE points. Whether itโs for music theory, production, or instruments ranging from classical to rock, students are gaining national recognition right here at CBSHS! ๐ธ๐น๐ป
Our Specialist Music students are excelling in Music Craft and Rock School exams, joining talented peers from across the Midwest. Plus, students can aim high with AMEB Awards, progressing through Ignite, Bronze, Silver, and Gold levels.

After a slow start, we ended up getting a heap of participants, staff, students, and Birri, all to compete in the Tug of War event!
The results ended up being:
2 wins and a loss for Glenfield, Midalia and Sunset
Coronation unfortunately did not see the winners circle.
As the results were a tie, instead of adding points to the event, we are going to tally up all the points from the carnival and add them to the final total for the House Sheild!
WHO WILL BE CROWNED WITH THE FIRST HOUSE SHIELD SINCE 2016!
As always, thank you to the staff and ASDAN students for helping set up and support the event.
Thank you, students, for participating or supporting and continuing to make this a success!

The Western Australian Robotics Playoffs (WARP) was held from Friday 23 August to Sunday 25 August at Curtin University and Champion Bay Students were there to represent!
There are two components to the competition, "Robot Play" and DPIRD Innovation Challenge". The CBSHS Team were known throughout the competition as "The Company".
It was our first time entering the Playoffs and our students performed brilliantly. Our robot 'Headache' performed exactly as his name suggested, dropping a bearing on the first night ๐ but with a lot of hard work and some help from our saviours, (massive call out to the crew at Exmouth, Curtin and the Armadale for the help they gave us), we were able to get the robot running (not winning) for the "Robot Play" portion of the competition - but that's okay, we more than made up for it when our Team ๐พ๐ผ๐๐ ๐๐๐๐๐ in the Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development (DPIRD) Innovation Challenge! ๐๐คฉ
We had three teams that competed, with presentations on the Future of Technology in Agriculture, but it was the '๐ฆ๐ผ๐ถ๐น๐ง๐ฟ๐ฎ๐

Congratulations to all the other schools that also entered and attended the DPIRD Challenge!

The students from our Future Pathways Program (FPP), recently visited the Pila Nguru Exhibition at the Geraldton Museum to view the artworks that were submitted by the Spinifex People in the successful Native Title Claim. The works show continued knowledge and connection to country and our students were interested to learn about the story telling and wisdom held in the paintings.
FPP students are completing endorsed programs, Community Service and Community Arts, focussing on the environment and connection to Country this term.
We are also working with Chapman River Friends to help protect the Chapman River Estuary and learning about significant sites in the area. They will complete an artwork based on their knowledge and learnings about endangered and protected species. We will showcase the artworks next semester!
