Wow! 🤩 Chung Wah Midwest Chinese School was on the site to celebrate WA Day together with local community.
Chung Wah Midwest Chinese School celebrated early Dragon Boat Festival with local community members on WA day. We are so gald to see so many creative boats made from the kids and their boats all float in the water. Some kids stay with us for almost 30mins to showcase their amazing creative ideas. Thank you everyone! Big thanks to Europhrium for giving Chung Wah Midwest Chinese school this wonderful chance to share our idea! Thank you parents for helping on the site today.
We never imaged that bamboo leaves could be used as sails for boats⛵️. The Chinese traditionally use them for making sticky rice dumplings for the Dragon Boat Festival.
Sticky Rice Dumpling is called 'zòng zi' in Mandarin Chinese and Dragon Boat Festival is officially on the June, 10th in 2024.
This week, we had some talented coders create in Chinese for other students to decode. This unplugged activity enhances students' critical thinking and creativity. It was fun and engaging exercise for the whole class! 🤓
What great effort from everyone, especially the students from non-Chinese Speaking Backgrounds. In just one term, you can already retell a children's story.

What an amazing day to celebrate Lunar New Year with our local community members! Despite the scorching heat, we deeply appreciate your presence. Special thanks to The Chai Trio music group for their enchanting performance of traditional Chinese instruments and vocals, as well as to the Chinese Peony Flowers dance group for their captivating dance. We're grateful to the audience, including the children who sang along, and we hope you still remember some Chinese greetings. Regarding the Lion dance, we aim to have two lions next year to allow more participation. It was delightful to witness both children and adults dancing with the dragon, and we wish everyone prosperity and good health in the coming year If Dragon.
Lion dance (traditional Chinese: 舞獅; simplified Chinese: 舞狮; pinyin: wǔshī) is a form of traditional dance in Chinese culture and other Asian countries in which performers mimic a lion 's movements in a lion costume to bring good luck and fortune.

How exicing! The Chinese storybooks have arrived at our campus! We will encourage students to read a storybook every week. As one of the ancient traditional folk sports activities, shuttlecock originated in the Han Dynasty and was developed from ancient Cuju. It was popular in the Northern and Southern Dynasties and the Sui and Tang Dynasties and has a history of more than 2,000 years. It is a simple and easy fitness activity.
