🌿🐝 Biodiversity Bonanza! 🦋🌱
On Tuesday, 9 Year 6 students headed to Foresters Forest, a unique urban arboretum, for a day of exploring, discovering and learning about our local environment! 🌳🔎
Students took part in Cultural Education and a Greeting to Spirit of Place, explored the forest’s different plant communities, and became biodiversity detectives as they searched for and documented plants, insects and animals. 🌿🐞🦋 They also became Habitat Heroes, learning about local wildlife and ecosystem connections and getting hands-on with selective weeding to help protect biodiverse green spaces. 💚🌏
And of course, we found maths in nature too! 📏🔢 Students explored maps, estimation, measurement, shape and patterns as they investigated the forest. 🗺️🌿📐
Biodiversity is the variety of plants, animals and other living things in an environment and how they connect with each other. 🌱🐝
What maths can you spot in nature? 🌿🔢
And what can you do at home or in your community to support biodiversity? 🐝🏡💚
