Geeveston Primary School offers a passionate, dedicated and experienced staff who support all our students to reach their full potential. We have many purpose built learning spaces, including a separate kindergarten area, a gym, library, teaching kitchen, computer lab, art room, teaching garden and expansive playgrounds and play areas. The variety of teaching spaces provide enormous opportunities

for our K-6 students who are involved in a number of programs that enhance their classroom learning including the Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden Program, Premier's Reading Challenge, the Song Room music lessons and visiting coaches for a number of sports. These activities are conducted in an environment that fosters growth, encouragement and a sense of achievement for all students. We also run a weekly Launching into Learning (LIL) program aimed at learners aged Birth to 5 years and their parents/carers. This program offers a unique opportunity for children to engage in play based learning within the school environment allowing the smooth transition to school. Thank you to everyone who came along to our Father’s Day Breakfast this morning. It was wonderful to share the morning with you. A special thank you to the wonderful family who came in early to do the cooking for us. It was delicious.

Congratulations to our students who have gained prestigious awards for their self-portraits in the 2026 Young Archies Awards. Students throughout Tasmania enter this competition and, due to the hundreds of entries, it is very rare for schools to have one successful student. This year, we have two!

Families are welcome to visit the Young Archies Exhibition at the UTAS School of Creative and Performing Arts on Hunter Street, Hobart. The exhibition is open this week and on the weekend.

As part of our Book Week celebrations, our whole school is gathering in our beautiful library for book readings each morning this week. Our amazing teachers are taking turns to read their favourite books to the students. How lucky we are at our school.

As part of their physical education lessons, the 5/6 class took their bikes and scooters to the bike park this afternoon. The students are beginning to better understand that staying active supports a healthy body and is great for overall wellbeing.

Well done to our State Cross Country runners! What an effort to finish the course and still have smiles by the end in such challenging conditions.

Bike club started today with great success. Our leaders did a wonderful job making sure everyone got a turn on a bike. We are looking forward to next Thursday to do it all again.

The Prep/1 class have been learning about the properties of different materials and learning new skills using a variety of textiles. They have been exploring how to weave, wrap, sew and to felt. Next step - knitting!
