The research is clear 📚 reading aloud is one of the most powerful things we can do for our children.
When we read with a child, we’re doing far more than sharing a story. We’re building the foundations for language, confidence, curiosity and a lifelong love of learning.
Decades of research shows that children who are read to regularly:
💛 Build stronger language skills
Hearing rich varied language in books exposes children to far more words than everyday conversation alone. This growing vocabulary helps them understand, communicate and make sense of the world.
💛 Develop early literacy skills long before they learn to read
Through stories, children learn how books work – that print carries meaning, that pages turn left to right, and that stories have a beginning, middle and end. These early understandings make learning to read feel familiar and exciting.
💛 Strengthen phonological awareness
Rhymes, rhythms and playful sounds help children hear the building blocks of language.
💛 Grow their comprehension and thinking skills
Talking together about a story, predicting what might happen, wondering how a character feels, and connecting events to real life helps children develop memory, problem-solving, and higher-order thinking.

We would like to acknowledge the remarkable milestone that Linda has achieved. Linda has recently been awarded 20 years of dedicated service with Goodstart Grovedale Pioneer Road.�Linda is one of our longest‑standing team members and has consistently demonstrated her commitment as an educator, supporting our children, families, and colleagues with genuine care and professionalism. Her passion, reliability, and deep knowledge have made a lasting impact on our centre community.�We are incredibly grateful for everything Linda brings to our team and celebrate this wonderful achievement with her.

Some School holiday fun at Booln Booln Cultural Centre!
We’ll be running some activities during the first week of the school holidays, however, as the second week is NAIDOC Week, we won’t be hosting any sessions during that time.

NAIDOC Week (5-12 July) is an important opportunity for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people to come together and celebrate history, culture and achievements.
We encourage everyone to attend the Wathaurong Aboriginal Co-operative Flag Raising. This is a free event, please visit their page for more details.
Our centre will remain open throughout the school holidays as usual, so feel free to come along and spend the day with us!

Happy Mother’s Day to Our Wonderful Community 🌸
Thank you so much to all the amazing mums, grandmothers, aunties, and special mother figures who joined us to celebrate this beautiful day.
Your presence made the morning feel extra warm and full of joy.
Our children were so excited to share this moment with you.
