🌏🏮 Ancient China Day for Year 7! 🏮🌏

As part of their Humanities and Social Sciences studies, our Year 7 students recently immersed themselves in the fascinating world of Ancient China.

Students enjoyed a range of hands-on cultural experiences, including dumpling making, Chinese calligraphy, lantern creation, a traditional tea ceremony, flexibility activities, and learning about different dynasties through games and quizzes. They also had the opportunity to play Jianzi, a traditional Chinese sport.

It was wonderful to see students engaging respectfully, enthusiastically, and creatively throughout the day.

We are so proud of our Chitty Chitty Bang Bang cast who delighted audiences across three performances in our Multi-Purpose Centre last week.

Our students have faithfully used their God-given gifts and talents to bring this production to life and the result has been a celebration of creativity, friendship, courage, joy and community.

Year 9 Canoe Day provided students with a fantastic opportunity to get out on the Barwon River, develop their paddling skills and build confidence on the water. Students worked on a range of practical skills, including effective paddling techniques, teamwork and canoe rescue manoeuvres.

The day was also an excellent preparation opportunity for students attending our upcoming Year 9 Canoe Expedition. It allowed them to become more familiar with their canoes, practise important safety and rescue skills, and develop the confidence needed to make the most of the expedition experience.

It was a great day on the water, with students embracing the challenge, working together and enjoying the opportunity to experience the Barwon River from a different perspective.

Our amazing Chitty Chitty Bang Bang cast sang and danced their hearts out during their dress rehearsal yesterday. They entertained 100 Christian College students who thoroughly enjoyed the show.

Three of our College Concert Bands performed at the Victorian School Music Festival recently, with students from Year 5 to Year 12 participating across multiple grade levels.

The VSMF experience includes performing, professional adjudication, workshopping with the chief adjudicator and the opportunity to hear other bands perform. We thank Fine Music for their organisation of this event which is a highlight of the College Music calendar!

At Covenant College we aim to foster a passion for life-long learning, both inside our classrooms, in our extra-curricular programs and in life beyond schooling. We desire to create spaces and programs where inclusive, welcoming and encouraging student relationships can flourish. We are so proud of our band students who consistently demonstrate these qualities and who represent Covenant College beautifully.
