Montessori Beginnings Geelong - Bay City Early Learning Centre

What is the Threading Activity in Montessori?
The threading activity in Montessori is part of the Practical Life lessons designed for children ages 3 to 6. It involves guiding a string through holes in pieces of wood or beads, which helps children to develop fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination.

Montessori Beginnings Geelong Children celebrated the Commonwealth Games and took part in their own obstacle course challenge. Developing their Co-ordination, Balance and Strength our Kinder children really enjoyed the fun and challenge.

NAIDOC Week Activity: Dot Painting!
One of our activities during NAIDOC Week Aboriginal is an art activity, using cotton tips to dot paint shapes inspired by Aboriginal culture.
This exploration encouraged cultural awareness and a connection to Australia’s First Nations people through thoughtful and interactive learning.

What are the Montessori Nesting Boxes?
The Montessori Nesting Boxes are made out of boxes of different sizes that fit together. They can be used in Montessori to explain abstract concepts and build a variety of developmental skills, such as visual discrimination, concentration, hand-eye coordination, and understanding of size relationships.

NAIDOC Week at Geelong!
NAIDOC Week has always been a wonderful time to introduce our children at Montessori Beginnings to Aborginal cultures in engaging ways! Our activities last week include sound and rhythm exploration, dot painting the Australian Aboriginal Flag, as well as tracing cultural symbols on sand. The activities aim to support fine motor development and creativity, while nurturing our children’s sense of identity and respect for culture.
