🥳 Week 2 of our holiday period Boot Camp 🥳

❓This week I have decided that it’s super important we get into Question Formulation in French! I realise asking questions in English vs French is not only very different, but can absolutely be tricky to get your head around !!

📚It’s very important to understand question formulation in French especially for our VCE kids, as with tests and exams.. lots of questions Will be asked and it’s crucial that it’s understood what’s being asked.. and for real world French - the only way to get by is to ask questions ! Imagine a life where you didn’t know how to ask questions. Imagine how hard that’d be !!!

There are a million different ways to ask questions in English.. have you.. did you.. is she.. are they.. ect. have you ever thought about how complex it must be for non English speakers to try learn how to formulate questions in English? 🇦🇺

Well in French, it can be just as confusing. There are three ways to formulate a question in French - do you know what they are ? 🇫🇷

If not, it might be worth grabbing some tutoring this week !! It will be well worth your while 🤪

Hoping that everyone has had a FANTASTIC holiday, and has had a positive start to the new year.
My time in France over the holidays was lovely, but very cold !

📚 Intensive French classes for all my VCE students is starting up as of this week, I’m SO excited to get started and smash out some early goals with all of them📚

This school holidays we are really going to focus on drilling the basics, introducing some important concepts and making sure they’re well understood, along with touching on some topics that they should be covering throughout their next 12 months.
This will enable them to go into year 11 or year 12 confidently, and hopefully with a small head start 💪💪

🤩 Well what I CRAZY week last week was !
Huge shout out to my year 10’s and 11’s who smashed out 2-3 hour sessions this week to prepare for their exams. It was so much fun to work with you guys so much this week! 🤩

🥳 I am SO beyond proud of how hard all my students worked and I hope they are nothing big proud of themselves for the work they have put into their study. 🥳

🐴 Below is a photo from my lesson with the gorgeous Sienna this week.
A change of pace was nice.. i thought to practise our speaking skills I took her up to see our horses and then hers, and to each horse we talked to we had to speak in a different tense, about a different topic. It was SO much fun to get off the computers and put the pens down.. and get out into the world and practise our French speaking skills 🐴

Such a busy week I forgot to do a word of the week!

Today I am off to france again for 3 weeks.. It should be a fun adventure ! Lots of winter/christmassy pictures to be shared that’s for sure 😍

The three girls who started it all for me !

While I was in France I recieved a message from Jenna looking for French tutoring, and before I knew it I had this gorgeous group of girls for an hour and a half every week !

I realised that I loved teaching them. I found that the way I convey information to them was put together in a way they understood what I was teaching. And not only were they able to retain the information well, but they understood what they were saying and why they’re saying it. Which is my entire objective of my French tutoring ! We focus on understand rather than just memorising.

We started with online lessons and we would go through a little bit of everything. From tense training, to conjugation work, to SAC study where we would imitate the potential SACS as practise. Now that it’s coming to exam time, we’re doing privates and working on excelling in our strengths, and turning our weaknesses into strengths.

Additionally to our French work we would also catch up on life stuff ! I really love catching up with these girls every week. They’re just awesome ❤️

These girls have made such dramatic improvements in their French language skills in the 6 months we’ve been working together. We’ve also seen big improvements in their school work and motivation towards the subject. I am so beyond proud of just how far these girls have come and I cannot wait to smash out year 12 next year with them !

Let me introduce myself !

✨My name is Tayla, I’m 25 years old, and teaching French is a huge passion of mine ! I have just returned from having lived in France teaching English in schools, and I have since found a true passion for teaching linguistics✨

📜 My degrees include a bachelors of psychological science, and a diploma in advanced French! I have studied French for the last 12 years of my life and live and breath the language. I have a B2 language qualification and am studying for by C next year🎓

🏡 I live in a rather French household at the moment. We have a super fun exchange student from Paris who has taught me a lot of Parisian slang.. and my partner is from Lyon! So I speak predominantly French in my house 🙊

🥖 I have spent 3 years of my life in France in total where I have worked with children, adults, and last year I spent a year teaching English in schools over there ! It was a fantastic experience🍾

📚I have been tutoring French for the last 8 months and have found a true passion for it. I really struggled learning French initially, as it really isn’t a simple language. I think because I struggled so much it has enabled me to become a great teacher, as I can teach it in a way that I would have understood, which I find in turn benefits my clients a lot in aiding their understanding through my teaching😍📚

👩‍🎓 I have 6 students who I currently tutor and I love it. French tutoring to me is also a social day, as I love to get to know my clients and create a fun and safe environment for them to be themselves 👩‍🎓
