GEPS has a long tradition of excellence and commitment to the education and wellbeing of all students. Curriculum at Geelong East Primary School is diverse and challenging. Based on individual student assessments, planning by teachers is based around the needs of the children according to their social, emotional and intellectual development. We encourage and support our students to strive for the

ir personal best in all areas of the curriculum. Using the National Curriculum as a framework, the curriculum is planned to support student learning in the 21st Century. Geelong East Primary School has a strong focus on English and Mathematics. For students that need that extra bit of help we have programs like Reading Recovery

Information Communications Technology (ICT) Computers support all curriculum areas with literacy and numeracy at their core. In years 3-6 we have a BYOD program with apple devices as our choice of device, we also have class sets in case people are unable to supply their own, ipads are also used in the music room. In addition every classroom is equipped with an electronic, interactive whiteboard that students or teachers can use to access outside knowledge like BTM or Google. we are very lucky to have fantastic Art and Music program that all students participate in on a weekly basis. Students get to explore their creative side during this time

Physical Education and sporting activities are integral to the school program. Physical and Health education is an integral aspect of each child's school day. A specialist teacher provides weekly lessons to children from Prep to Year 6. Sporting events such as athletics carnivals, cross country and clinics as well as entry into district, regional and state events ensure all children have the opportunity to participate to a high level. Geelong East Primary School supports students with special learning needs through intervention and extension programs. Individual learning improvement plans, program support group meetings and specialised individual programs ensure goals are set and met within our mainstream school. Community support agencies are utilised to support students with additional needs including speech therapy, mentors and family support specialists. Additional programs provide leadership opportunities in the form of School and Sporting captains, Junior School Council, Peer Mediators, Environment Club, Debating and Chess clubs.

🪄⚡ HARRY POTTER WEEK IS COMING! ⚡🪄
By far one of our most popular requests for a weekly theme is Harry Potter! And since next week is officially Harry Potter Week, who am I to say no?!

So pack your trunks, grab your owls and dust off your wands as we board the Hogwarts Express and head back to Hogwarts! 🚂🏰

Throughout the week, our young witches and wizards will be creating their own Hogwarts House crests, magical creatures and Quidditch jerseys, making DIY Chocolate Frogs, learning all about the Hogwarts Houses and even whipping up some magical Harry Potter pancakes! 🥞✨

We'll also be putting our wizarding skills to the test with Capture the Dragon Egg and, of course, heading off on a Horcrux Hunt to see if we can track them all down! ⚡

It's going to be a week full of magic, creativity, games and plenty of Hogwarts fun. Mischief managed! 🪄

📚✨ BOOK WEEK IS HERE! ✨📚
Next week at Kelly Club Geelong East we're celebrating Book Week with our Symphony of Stories! Each day we'll dive into a different favourite, including The Very Hungry Caterpillar, The Cat in the Hat, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Harry Potter and Where the Wild Things Are! 📖
There'll be plenty of story-inspired crafts, games, discovery and cooking, from creating our own Wonka sweets and baking chocolate brownies to discovering our Hogwarts Houses and designing our very own Wild Things!
