With Summer set to officially start week, so is our Summer Menu!
Our menu was created in conjunction with our Centre Manager Aggie and Chef Shelley taking into account all nutritional aspects. Young children, whose brains are rapidly developing, need a nutrient-dense diet to help them as they process the world around them. Without the right nutrients, toddlers and preschoolers might struggle to develop the skills to maintain concentration, which becomes increasingly important as they get older.
We can not wait to taste these yummy meals over the coming weeks!

Here at Genius Newcomb, we pride ourselves on serving a variety of fresh fruit at morning tea. The children are able to self serve and pick out the fruits that they enjoy eating. In the toddlers room our wonderful Educator Zi sat and discussed the various colours of the fruit being served. The children were all so engrossed and clever at naming the fruit and its colour.

Today our children showed their respect for Remembrance Day. They listened to Miss jenny tell a story and learnt why the day is important. They then closed their eyes and had a minute's of silence. The children did remarkably well at this activity. Later they made poppies in their art and craft activity.
In talking about why we celebrate Remembrance Day, we teach children about the significance of history and the importance of maintaining peace. It's an opportunity to educate children and foster a sense of gratitude, empathy and respect for those who have served and those who serve today.

The kinder children took part in a float or sink experiment today. This sink or float experiment is a simple physics experiment that encourages the children to make predictions and observations about buoyancy and density. Through their observations, they’ll learn that buoyant objects float and dense objects sink. They even became true little scientists, as they recorded their predictions.
Great stuff guys!

Today our Educational Leader Alex, Kinder teacher Miss Jenny and Kinder educator Gavin went into the city to take part in the "hey little Warrior" workskop.
Hey Little Warrior: Anxiety in Little Kids is a workshop which aims to support educators in guiding children towards discovering and expanding their own capacity for brave behaviour. The workshop is based on the children’s books ‘Hey Warrior’ and ‘Hey Awesome’, which detail turning anxiety into an ally, and explore and explain anxiety through a neuroscientific, child-friendly lens.
The workshop provides educators with practical strategies and information to support a class-based approach towards strengthening all children against anxiety, expanding their capacity for brave behaviour, and understanding more about the brain. The workshop equips educators with the information and practical tools to work with children on a group or individual level.

Today we invited our beautiful grandparents to join their loved little ones for a play.
Grandparents Day is a day dedicated to acknowledging and celebrating the important contribution made by grandparents to the wellbeing and education of children within their family. It is an opportunity for us to show gratitude and respect for the older generation and to honor grandparents.

Genius Newcomb is a SunSmart registered service. Our dedicated team of educators complete their SunSmart training annually. The service manager renews the centers SunSmart membership every 3 years to stay up to date with practices and polices.
UV exposure during childhood has a big impact on skin cancer risk – but it’s almost entirely preventable with good UV protection.
SunSmart recommends early childhood services and schools develop and implement a comprehensive, evidence-informed UV protection policy to reduce UV exposure and encourage the use of all five forms of sun protection.

The children across the center absolutely love messy play! Check out the children engaging in some fun messy activities.
Messy play offers opportunities for cognitive growth as children make observations, predictions, and discoveries while exploring cause-and-effect relationships. They learn concepts such as volume, texture, weight, and capacity through hands-on experimentation and sensory.
