📚✨ Book Week is officially underway at Montessori Minds!

Day 1 began with a special parent book reading incursion, bringing stories to life and kicking off a week full of imagination, creativity and learning. 📖🌟

Today’s Science Week experiment: The Walking Water Experiment! 🧪🌈💧

Using just 3 cups, water, food colouring, and paper towels, our little scientists watched a colourful experiment unfold! Two cups were filled with coloured water, while the empty cup sat in the middle. Paper towels connected all three cups, and then the magic of science began... 👀✨

The water slowly travelled through the tissues and into the empty middle cup, showing the children how water can move through materials through absorption and capillary action. 🔬💦

A simple experiment, plenty of curiosity and lots of “WOW, look!” moments! 🌈

Science Week at Montessori Minds is all about giving children the chance to explore, experiment, predict and discover through hands-on learning. 🧠✨

Day 1 of Science Week 🔬🌈

We kicked off Science Week with a colourful experiment called Colour Fizz! 🧪✨

With just baking soda, food colouring and vinegar, the children watched their colourful creations bubble, fizz and erupt like tiny lava flows! 🌋

A simple experiment turned into a wonderful opportunity to explore cause and effect, make predictions and watch science happen right before their eyes.

🍇🍌🧺 Market Day in the Cradle Room! 🧺🍌🍇

Today our littlest learners stepped into the shoes of real shoppers! Each child was given their own money to spend, walked through our very own fruit market, picked out their fruit, and handed their coins over to our "vendor" (one very patient educator 😄).

But here's the best part — every single piece of this market was made from recycled materials sourced right here at the centre ♻️
🧺 Baskets — made from old cloth bags
📄 Shredded paper — lining the baskets
📦 Fruits & market signs — crafted from used cardboard
🪙 Play money — handmade for the occasion

Beyond the fun, this activity built real practical life skills — decision-making, counting, exchanging, and social interaction — all wrapped up in imaginative, hands-on play. This is what "follow the child" looks like when it meets sustainability 💛

We love finding ways to turn everyday materials into meaningful learning experiences for our Cradle Room friends!

🍋 When learning gets a little zesty! 👩‍🍳✨

Our little chefs had a refreshing day in the kitchen as they learned how to make their very own lemonade! From squeezing lemons to mixing, pouring and tasting, every step was a chance to explore, create and build confidence. 🍋🥤

Because sometimes, the best lessons happen when little hands get busy and learning feels like play. 💛

Learning through play, one shape at a time! 🔷🟦✨

In this Montessori activity, our little learner is matching different shapes to the corresponding images on the activity sheet. A simple activity, but one that encourages shape recognition, visual discrimination, concentration, coordination and independent thinking. 🧠🤲

And the best part? They’re learning without even realising they’re learning! 💙

🦷✨ A trip to the dentist can be an adventure too!

Our little explorers had the best time visiting Norlane Dental and getting a behind-the-scenes look at what happens at the dentist.

From sitting in the dental chair and brushing Mr Dragon’s teeth 🐉🪥 to feeling the suction, air and water tools, the children got to explore dentistry through hands-on experiences.

And of course, the magic lamp was a favourite! ✨💡 A simple touch of the hand and it switched on and off!

Experiences like these help children become familiar with the dental environment, build confidence and learn that looking after their teeth can be fun.
