🧠 OSCE Tip That Might Save Your Station So many ADC candidates walk out of an OSCE station thinking: “I forgot a line. I must have failed.” But that’s rarely the real issue. ❌ You don’t lose marks for forgetting a sentence. ✅ You lose marks when you fail to listen and respond to the patient. In OSCEs — and in real life — memorised answers won’t help if you’re not connecting with the patient. Instead of jumping back into your rehearsed script, try saying: 🗣️ “That’s a great question — I’ll come to that in just a moment.” 🗣️ “Let me explain that first, then I’ll answer your concern.” And don’t just talk — check in: 👉 “Is that making sense so far?” 👉 “Do you have any questions at this point?” Remember: ADC doesn’t want a performer. They want a safe, human, and responsive clinician. 🎯 Focus less on perfection. Focus more on presence.
