Hi All would just to love to put it out there that if you have been to pottery in the past and made something, we would really love if you would make contact and organise for you to come along and glaze your piece. It can then be fired for you to pick up. As im sure you can all appreciate we don't always have the spare room to keep it. Pottery hut is open on a Wednesday morning at 9am.

Due to the recent Rate charges that the council have imposed on us we have no option but to make some fast decisions in regard to some fundraising in the hopes of paying these bills and staying afloat. On a normal Bingo night, supper has always been a gold coin donation per person, for anyone that comes I'm sure you would have to agree a cup of tea/coffee and a bread & butter size plate full of all sorts of yummy sandwiches cakes and slices etc is something you would not get anywhere else for this price. Sadly, the amount of people and the donations made do not always add up. The cost of cups and plates let alone the food and other expences are not covered by a gold coin donation. Sadly we have no choice but to raise the cost of supper to $5 per person. We understand that for some this may be just too much, and we are welcoming you to bring along your own supper. I hope you will all understand the situation we are now in. As previously stated, if you're not happy about this you are more than welcome to bring your own supper. Hope to see you all there on Friday Sept. 5th.

Its been a sad week for us all this week discovering that we, the Pottery hut have to pay rates on the council building that we don't own. A few months back we were told our peppercorn lease agreement had come to an end and that the council had drawn up a new lease contract which was $380 per year. This was not to bad for us but to be the slogged with a rates notice as well thats another $2580.00 a year we have to fundraise for. Is it the councils plan to shut down all these small organisations in town that manage to give a little pleasure to the community. We have always maintained the pottery hut in regards to mowing, painting the building both inside and out, getting three phase power turned on, building a toilet planting trees on the property and last but definitely not least the very recent er****on of our $60,000 shed. To say we feel deflated at the moment is very real. Wouldn't it be nice if we could send them a bill for all the extras and improvements we have made to their building over the years. But what really hurts the most is to see the obvious consistent waste of our ratepayers money. Have a look behind the CWA Hall (Council car park )and check out how many Toyota land cruisers there are parked.
