As children and young people across South Australia begin Term 3 this week, I’ve been thinking about all the different emotions that may be sitting alongside the excitement of returning to school or starting school for the first time. I’m
For some, it’s exciting to see friends, reconnect with teachers and begin a new term. For others, returning to school may bring worries, uncertainty or a little extra nervousness.
Whatever feelings are present, I hope every child knows this:
✨ You don’t have to get everything right straight away.
✨ It’s okay to feel nervous.
✨ You can take things one day — and sometimes one moment — at a time.
✨ You are never alone in how you feel.
✨ Asking for help is a sign of strength.
To the parents, carers and families helping children prepare for another school term, and to the incredible teachers and school staff welcoming them back — I hope you remember to be gentle with yourselves too. 💛
A new term is a fresh beginning. A chance to reconnect, grow, learn, try again and take the next small step.
Wishing every South Australian student a happy, healthy and positive Term 3. 🌿📚✨
💫 Together, we make a difference.
