Lockyer District High School

Lockyer District High School every day, in every classroom, all students are learning and achieving ... to become enterprising, resilient, creative, adaptable, confident individuals

Secondary education in Gatton was first offered on the 1st January 1913 as a Secondary Department attached to Gatton State School. In 1917, due to increasing enrolments, Gatton High School was created on the present Gatton State School site. This became Lockyer District High School when it was opened at its present location in 1961. Since that time, our school has developed with the town in establishing a positive and respected reputation and is recognised as a leader in the fields of academic, sporting and cultural excellence. Our school has produced many of the community’s local leaders and today is home to 1050 students. Lockyer District High School has a highly respected reputation, within the Lockyer Valley and abroad, that is built on success and excellence. This has been achieved through a dedicated staff who respect individual students and through a highly supportive community.

🌟THROWBACK THURSDAY | CLASS OF 2014 🌟

Today we’re catching up with Bodean – Class of 2014, whose journey is a great reminder that you don’t need to have your whole future mapped out when you leave school!

Now based on North Stradbroke Island, Bodean owns and manages four businesses:
Bo Beans Coffee
The Prawn Shack
Six Beaches Fish Grill & Bar
The Island Grocer & Deli

A straight-A student and School Captain, Bodean once dreamed of becoming an actor or maths teacher. After exploring three university degree paths and working four different jobs, life eventually took an unexpected turn into business ownership!

Bodean’s advice to current students

"You don’t need to have your whole life figured out today. You have time. Whether you finish at the top of your class or the bottom, everyone is in their own race."

Inspired by the story of the tortoise and the hare, Bodean believes there’s no need to rush to the finish line. "Success has come through hard work, mistakes, persistence and the support of great people along the way."

“I have so many great memories from LDHS and my time there definitely shaped who I am today!”

From School Captain to managing four businesses on Straddie — what a journey!
Thanks for sharing your story, Bodean, and reminding our students to embrace opportunities, learn from challenges and enjoy the journey!

📣 ARE YOU A PAST STUDENT? WE’D LOVE TO HEAR YOUR STORY!
