πŸƒβ€β™‚οΈβš½ Year 6 Sport
This term, our Year 6 students have been developing their movement skills, fitness, and wellbeing through a variety of engaging sports and physical activities. From target games and net/court sports to striking and fielding games and territory sports, students have been refining their skills while learning the importance of maintaining an active lifestyle. A highlight of the term has been students collaboratively designing and playing their own inclusive games, creating fair rules and scoring systems that encourage participation, teamwork, and fun for everyone. πŸ‘

Our staff recently engaged in powerful professional learning led by Roo and Mrs Peachey, focused on deepening understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander histories, cultures and pedagogies. Through the Dreaming story of the Rainbow Serpent, storytelling, dance and collaborative art, staff explored meaningful ways to embed Aboriginal perspectives into everyday learning. The artwork created during the session will be proudly displayed within our school as a symbol of our ongoing commitment to cultural understanding and inclusion.
Thank you to Mr Paul McKay from St Mary's Catholic College, Gateshead for leading our opening prayer and helping us begin the day with reflection and respect.

β˜€οΈ Harnessing the power of the Sun! πŸŒŽπŸ”¬
Year 5 have been learning about our Solar System and the central role of our star, the Sun. Last week, students put their scientific knowledge into action by designing and building solar thermal ovens. Using the beautiful sunny weather, they tested their creations to see how effectively they could capture and retain the Sun's energy. It was wonderful to see so much creativity, collaboration and problem-solving as students explored renewable energy in a hands-on way! β˜€οΈπŸ§‘β€πŸ”¬πŸ‘©β€πŸ”¬
