🌏 Small School Community, BIG Opportunities! 🌏

Our Year 11 Geography students took their learning into the city for a full day of fieldwork exploring Place and Cultural Change across Millers Point, Walsh Bay and Dawes Point.

Students investigated the impacts of gentrification, examining changes in land use, community identity and the social, economic and environmental characteristics of these changing places.

Through mapping, urban transects, field sketches and interviews with local residents, students put their geographical skills into practice. They also explored an underground convict-era home and the beautifully restored terrace houses that reveal the area's rich history.

A fantastic day of learning beyond the classroom, with students demonstrating Respect, Responsibility and Personal Best while experiencing Geography firsthand! 🌏👏

💃🚦 Small School Community, BIG Opportunities 💃

Our Year 10 PDHPE students are developing skills for both wellbeing and life as they explore road safety, decision-making and personal health.

In practical lessons, students are also getting creative through their Dance unit, developing rhythm, confidence and teamwork while working collaboratively in groups.

It is fantastic to see students building knowledge, confidence and practical skills while demonstrating Respect, Responsibility and Personal Best. 👏

🎭📚 Small School Community, BIG Opportunities 📚🎭

This term, our Year 9 English students have been exploring Shakespearean adaptation through Romeo and Juliet and the modern film Rosaline.

Students have been comparing the texts to investigate changing ideas about love, tragedy, gender and social expectations, while discovering why Shakespeare's stories continue to inspire modern adaptations.

This week, 9ENG.E took their learning to the Drama Room, performing scenes from the final act — otherwise known as the part where, spoiler alert, Romeo and Juliet both die! 💀

Judging by the number of students dramatically sprawled across the floor, they certainly committed to the tragedy! Some performances may have involved just a little more dramatic dying than Shakespeare intended.🎭

Our Year 10 Pathways to Advanced Mathematics students are taking their trigonometry beyond the page and into the real world!

Students have been creating 3D models and applying their trigonometric skills to calculate and solve problems involving angles, lengths and dimensions. 📏📐

A fantastic hands-on learning experience that shows how mathematics can be used to design, measure and understand the world around us.

Our students are demonstrating Respect, Responsibility and Personal Best as they challenge themselves and build the skills needed for future success. 👏

💡 Small School Community, BIG Global Opportunities! 💡🌏

As part of our High Potential and Gifted Education (HPGE) program, selected Year 9 and 10 Geography students took part in Rotary’s Pitch for Purpose Innovation Challenge.

Working alongside Rotary mentors, students used design thinking to tackle real-world environmental challenges aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. Their ideas explored reducing light pollution, eco-friendly school programs, waste-to-energy solutions and protecting wildlife and ecosystems.

Students developed their communication, collaboration, critical thinking and problem-solving skills while putting their Geography knowledge into action. 🌱

A huge thank you to our local Rotary volunteers for sharing their time, expertise and encouragement. Our students loved the opportunity to think BIG and create solutions for a better future!

A fantastic example of Respect, Responsibility and Personal Best in action. 👏🌏

Last week, our Year 12 Dance students Ella Stephenson and Amelia Broto completed their HSC Dance practical components, showcasing their talent and dedication through Core Performance and Core Composition.

Both students should be incredibly proud of the commitment, creativity and perseverance they have demonstrated throughout their HSC Dance journey.
