Today we celebrate the wonderful men and father figures who love, guide, encourage and show up for the little people in their lives.

We know that families come in all shapes and sizes, and today we celebrate all those who step into that special role with love.

We also hold a little extra space today for those for whom Father’s Day may bring mixed emotions, memories or someone deeply missed.

From all of us at Explore & Develop Freshwater, we hope your day is filled with the people you love, a little time to slow down, and plenty of special moments together.

📚 Celebrating Book Week! 📚

There’s something pretty special about sharing a story together.

Reading with children from their earliest years is more than learning words and recognising letters. Stories spark imagination and curiosity, build language and communication skills, support concentration and emotional development, and help children make sense of themselves and the world around them.

Most importantly, reading together creates connection and a chance to slow down and enjoy a moment together.

This Book Week, we’re celebrating not only the favourite stories of the children at our service but the childhood favourites of our teaching team also - the stories that take us on amazing adventures, introduce us to wonderful characters and help us in nurturing a lifelong love of books and learning.

Every story shared is time well spent.

Celebrating 5 amazing years of learning, playing and collaborating with Miss Ash!

Five years ago, Ash made joined the early childhood sector, and during that time completed her early Certificate lll and Diploma qualifications here with us. Ash has always been a dedicated and consistent member of our team, in every role she has played with us and we are so excited to see her steering the ship yet again as our Saltbush Room Leader.

For the past five years, Ash has been a calm, nurturing and consistent member of our team, supporting children’s learning, wellbeing and sense of belonging each day. She is a master of learning environments and tuff tray set ups and we cannot wait to see what she delivers this book week!

Thank you, Ash, for your dedication, innovation and genuine care for the children, families and team at Explore & Develop Freshwater. We are incredibly grateful to have you as part of our community. 💛

Tea ceremonies and mindfulness rituals offer children a gentle opportunity to slow down, be present and connect with oneself and those around them.

Through simple, intentional moments such as preparing and sharing tea together, children develop patience, self-regulation, gratitude and an appreciation for everyday experiences. 

These rituals encourage meaningful conversation, strengthen relationships, support emotional wellbeing and foster a sense of calm and belonging, helping children build lifelong skills for resilience, reflection and connection.

Today, Explore & Develop Freshwater turns 8 and these three ladies have been here since day one, before our doors even opened for the children and families of our community - Wishing Yordi, Bindy & Sal a very happy 8 year anniversary. 🍎🥦🥕Fresh, seasonal meals made with care, right here in our own kitchen.

From the very first day we opened our doors, our Queen of the kitchen, Yordi, has been at the heart of our Explore & Develop Freshwater community. Over the years, she has created so much more than nourishing meals, she has built meaningful connections with our children, who delight in visiting the kitchen servery to chat about what’s cooking, share stories from their day, and learn about the ingredients used in meals being prepared.

Yordi’s thoughtful approach extends beyond the kitchen bench. Our menus are carefully planned using fresh, seasonal produce and are regularly reviewed in collaboration with our children, families, team, and the Munch & Move coordinators from Northern Sydney Local Health District. This ensures every meal aligns with the Australian Dietary Guidelines while thoughtfully supporting the individual dietary, cultural, and allergy needs of each child in our care.

We are so grateful for the warmth, dedication, and expertise Yordi brings to our community each and every day, and it’s no surprise that Yordi has also previously been acknowledged as Munch & Move’s Cook of the Month!
