If we can get these feeling right for the children, then in all likelihood they will enjoy and fully participate in the program in between - this is why we have worked to implement ‘PlaySpaces’ across all age groups, over many years here at Explore & Develop Freshwater.

As a proud partner of Tresillian, Explore & Develop is the only Early Childhood Education & Care organisation to receive specialised sleep and settling training from Tresillian nurses.

This means that our educators are supported and equipped with best practice responsive settling methods to ensure your child is provided with a calm environment where they feel safe, secure and nurtured.

We’re excited for Mon & Niki to be heading out to next week to partake in our Annual, full day Tresillian Safe Sleep Workshop 💤

Mealtimes should be more than just a routine, seen as a valued ritual, meaningful moments for learning, connection, and nurturing a healthy sense of wellbeing. By preparing nutritious meals with children rather than simply for them, we are better able to support their growing independence, sense of agency, and understanding of nutrition, sustainability all the while promoting healthy lifestyle habits.

Engaging children in cooking from scratch also fosters important physical skills. Using child-safe knives, tongs, spoons and forks helps develop fine motor control and hand-eye coordination, while stirring mixtures and following recipes alongside peers helps to build physical strength, challenge concentration & patience and support the awareness of safety rules, procedures and respectful social considerations.

This approach embraces children as capable contributors in daily life.

Why did you choose a career in Early Childhood Education & Care?:
I chose early childhood education because of my passion for learning about children’s development, building strong, secure relationships, and creating nurturing environments where every child feels safe, valued, and confident to learn and grow.

Why did you choose to explore a career with Explore & Develop Freshwater?:
I chose to work at Freshy E&D because of its beautiful location and the strong sense of community it offers; being here allows me to balance my professional career and my family life with ease.

At this amazing centre, we are incredibly fortunate to have a strong community feel and a positive, supportive work culture, where colleagues truly feel like family, and many have become some of my closest friends.

Personal Interests / Hobbies:
On the weekends, you’ll usually find me being a mum to my three boys, chauffeuring my eldest to sporting events, enjoying time at the beach, or navigating the beautiful chaos of parenting alongside my closest friends.
