We were delighted to welcome Federal Member for Fremantle, Josh Wilson MP , to our Fremantle Campus on Friday to meet with staff and students from our School of Medicine.

His visit follows the exciting announcement of five additional Commonwealth Supported Places for Notre Dame's medical program from 2028, creating more opportunities for future doctors and helping strengthen healthcare access for communities that need it most.

The University of Notre Dame Australia was honoured to welcome Australia’s Ambassador to the Holy See, The Hon Keith Pitt, to our Fremantle Campus for a special lecture on diplomacy, international relations and Australia’s engagement with the Holy See.

Ambassador Pitt shared insights into the unique role of Australia’s Embassy to the Holy See, including its focus on peace, human dignity, humanitarian assistance, social justice, technology and the Pacific.

He also reflected on the role of diplomacy in responding to global challenges, and the importance of ensuring artificial intelligence remains a tool that supports humanity and upholds the dignity of work.

Outstanding Notre Dame students have been recognised for their academic success and commitment to excellence in literacy, mathematics and health education at the Faculty of Education and Philosophy & Theology's annual awards ceremonies in Fremantle and Sydney.

Notre Dame has secured five additional Commonwealth supported places for its Doctor of Medicine Program in Western Australia, helping to strengthen the future health workforce and create more opportunities for students to study medicine.

Starting in 2028, the additional places will support the training of more highly skilled doctors and help address workforce shortages in communities across Australia.

Broome Campus came to life on Thursday for Open Day, with future students and their families exploring study options, meeting our community and getting a feel for campus life.

A highlight was the Simulation Lab, where students stepped into realistic emergency scenarios and experienced hands-on learning in action.

Congratulations to Notre Dame Associate Professor Myles Murphy, on being named a finalist in the 2026 Western Australian Premier’s Science Awards Early Career Scientist of the Year category.

His research is helping improve the assessment, management and prevention of lower-body musculoskeletal pain and injury, delivering real-world benefits for athletes, workers and the wider community.

This recognition celebrates Myles’ outstanding contribution to health and sports medicine research and reflects the impact of his work both nationally and internationally.

👏 A huge congratulations to Notre Dame researcher Associate Professor Myles Murphy, who has been awarded more than $600,000 in NHMRC funding for a major new research project.

Over the next five years, Myles and his team will investigate ways to reduce injuries among Australian police recruits, helping to improve training outcomes, keep recruits healthier and reduce costs to the community.
