A LIMPET tag has been deployed on a pygmy blue whale using a remotely-piloted drone in the Savu Sea, Indonesia by researchers from Konservasi Indonesia!

This is a huge step forward in the long-term conservation of this ocean-walloping and internationally migrating large cetacean-the pygmy blue whale!

A special 2024 sighting in Tonga by Whale_Discoveries of a white humpback whale calf named Siale, has been made even more special with recent 2025 video evidence of a resight off NSW coast in Australia!

Big news. The baby albino Humpback we saw last year in Ha’apai #tonga may have just been seen off NSW Australia. Identification is tricky but footage is accumulating from a white whale sighting, @orrcaaustralia has some great drone images and citizens are on the lookout, @happywhale_official are confirming it’s her. Beautiful white “Siale” maybe safely swimming off Australia? Her appearance will clarify that the Humpbacks do and can migrate different routes. And that calves stay north of Antartica for their 1 st year or more of life.
