John Curtin College of the Arts

John Curtin College of the Arts Welcome to the official page for John Curtin College of the Arts! We are consistently ranked highly for academic achievement ATAR and NAPLAN results.

We value the Arts for engagement and motivation for learning, where we not only build capacity in students' academic pursuits but make every child the very best person they can be by celebrating achievements in all facets of their education, using creativity to promote excellence and nurture wellbeing. We have a unique context and our community consists of families from East Fremantle, Richmond an

d North Fremantle primary schools and those in our local catchment. We cater for students throughout Western Australia in our Gifted and Talented Secondary Selective Arts Programs in Ballet, Contemporary Dance, Drama, Media Arts, Music, Music Theatre and Visual Arts, along with our approved Specialist Football Program. Our programs reflect our belief that all students are individual and come with different learning needs. We offer initiatives to extend students academically through our Gifted and Talented Arts Programs and college Academic Excellence Program. As a Registered Training Organisation (RTO50549) we provide scope in nationally accredited certificate courses. We use the Arts as a vehicle for student engagement and motivation. The Arts at John Curtin is as much about providing dynamic opportunities for all students (each year we produce more than 100 performances/exhibitions) as it is about developing transferable life skills such as empathy, creative and critical thinking, collaboration, and the ability to communicate well, all important attributes for any future pathway. The importance of connectedness is emphasised as essential in developing people who demonstrate respect, care and compassion for others and focus on the responsibilities we all have as individuals socially, culturally and environmentally.

Five alumni. Three professional clubs. Two continents. One very proud JCCA College community⚽💙

There has been plenty to celebrate across our Specialist Football Program over the past few weeks!

Tijan McKenna (Class of 2022) has signed with Vålerenga Fotball Elite in Norway, joining fellow JCCA graduate Hana Lowry (Class of 2020) at the same club.

Back in Australia, Alex Bolton and Max Naylor from the Class of 2025 have signed with the Central Coast Mariners, joining fellow alumnus Chris Donnell (Class of 2021) in the professional setup.

One of our favourite parts of this story is that Alex and Max graduated from JCCA only LAST YEAR. Their journey from school football to the A-League environment is an inspiring example for the next generation of students following in their footsteps.

And we couldn't finish this post without celebrating one of our own!

Congratulations to HPE Teacher Mr Edwards on reaching a historic Australia Cup Round of 16 with Fremantle City Football Club! We love seeing our staff making an impact on the game alongside our alumni.

These achievements are a wonderful reflection of the strength of JCCA's Specialist Football Program and the incredible pathways our students continue to create for themselves.

👏 Please join us in congratulating Hana, Chris, Tijan, Alex, Max and Mr Edwards on these fantastic achievements.

It was so special to welcome some familiar faces back to JCCA! 💙

Our Year 10 students recently heard from an incredible group of alumni who shared where life has taken them since graduating. From Civil Engineering and Nursing to Medical Research, Psychology, Physics, Finance and more, their journeys show there are so many different opportunities after JCCA.

At JCCA, we believe the skills you build here through creativity, confidence, collaboration and critical thinking can take you anywhere! Whether your future is in the arts, STEM, healthcare, business or something completely different, there is no one path to success.

A huge thank you to our alumni for coming back to share their experiences and inspire the next generation. It was fantastic to have you back on campus 🥳

‼️Alumni! We’d love to hear from you. What pathway were you part of at JCCA and where has your journey taken you since graduating? Let us know in the comments 👇

Calm waters, towering trees and a little adventure. 🚣‍♀️🌿

Year 10 Outdoor Education students recently travelled to Dwellingup, where they paddled along the Murray River and challenged themselves on a high ropes course.

The camp brought together four groups of students, providing opportunities to build confidence, strengthen teamwork and develop valuable outdoor skills while immersed in the stunning surrounds of the Peel region.
