Comment CREATIVE for all the deets x
When I asked what you'd like to see from Jotterbook Flowers, the number one request was NEW FLOWER DESIGNS. 🧡
So... meet my very first one.
✨ Daffodils ✨
I love making daffodils because there are so many different varieties to play with, and they're just so cheerful around the house!
And unlike fresh daffodils, paper ones are a great option if you have little ones or pets around.
It also feels especially fitting to be launching them during Daffodil Day this week. 🙏
There'll be a QR code at the Freo studio if you'd like to make a donation to Cancer Council while you're here.
And this Sunday, you can join me in the studio to learn how to make your own. 🌼
It's my first time teaching this design, so I've added a few special extras for everyone who comes along.
There are still a handful of spots available!
Comment DAFFODIL and I'll send you the link to book 💌

How art has helped me in life ⬇️
I’ve always been drawn to art, making things and having creative ideas, but I grew up thinking art was superfluous. 🙃
A nice-to-have. A luxury. Not practical. Even a waste of productive time.
I ended up working as a graphic designer, which gave me a career doing something creative, but over time I found that creativity started to become about deadlines, briefs and doing what other people wanted.
What was popular. What would sell. What a client would like.
Then I went through a period where chronic fatigue and migraines meant I couldn’t work in the way I had before.
Suddenly I had very little capacity to be “productive” at all.
And not being productive is very hard for a perfectionist. (I’m a recovering perfectionist these days) 🙏
That’s when I began painting. 🎨
I painted without a plan.
Without six thumbnail sketches.
Without a destination in mind.
I just painted what I felt.
And suddenly hours would pass in what felt like minutes. Painting felt like meditation.
I began to feel like myself again. 🧡
I also started connecting with other creatives who felt the same way.
People who understood that making things didn’t always need to have a purpose beyond the joy of making them.
I realised how much I had missed that kind of connection.
And I see that same experience in Jotterbook workshops all the time. ✨
People might arrive not knowing anyone, and a few hours later they've been chatting, sharing ideas, helping each other out and admiring each other’s flowers.
We're making something with our hands, but we're also connecting with other people. And I think both of those things are really important. 🌸
I think I used to see creativity as something you did when you had the time and talent.
Now I think of creativity as a way of making time for yourself.
And that’s something I really want Jotterbook to give people.
So if you’ve been thinking about coming along to a workshop, consider this your little nudge 👀
Comment WORKSHOP and we’ll send you our workshop calendar so you can see what’s coming up! 💌
