Integrity was at the heart of today's Morgan House Day, as students gathered to celebrate the attribute and values that define their House.

The day began with Mass in the Chapel, providing an opportunity for students and staff to reflect on the importance of living with honesty, responsibility, and strong moral character.

At recess, students enjoyed some friendly competition during the Mentor vs Mentor Dodgeball games, before gathering for a House sausage sizzle at lunch. A special thank you to our Year 12 Morgan House students, who cooked and served the lunch for the House community.

Morgan House Day was a wonderful celebration of House pride and the values that unite us as a College community.

Science Week brought curiosity, creativity and discovery to life across the College, with students immersing themselves in a range of hands-on activities designed to explore the wonders of science.

Throughout the week, students investigated the anatomy of fish through dissection, witnessed exciting Chemistry demonstrations, tested their engineering skills in the Spaghetti and Marshmallow Tower Challenge, and experienced the fascinating phenomenon of superconducting levitation.

These activities provided opportunities for students to explore new ideas and see scientific concepts in action, while celebrating the important role science plays in understanding and shaping our world.

It was fantastic to see so many students getting involved and embracing the spirit of inquiry that sits at the heart of scientific discovery.

Capturing Fremantle Through a Different Lens.

As part of the Year 11 General English Travel Writing Excursion, students were challenged to not only observe and write about Fremantle, but also capture the character and atmosphere of the city through photography.

Congratulations to Duncan, Nathaniel and Zachary, whose photographs were selected as the winners of the excursion photo competition. Their images stood out for the way they captured the creativity and unique spirit of Fremantle, reflecting the same observational skills that underpin effective travel writing.

The competition was a wonderful addition to what was a highly successful excursion, encouraging students to connect with their surroundings and view familiar places from a fresh perspective.

We also commend all students for the way they conducted themselves throughout the day, representing CBC Fremantle as mature and respectful young men.

A special thank you to Mr Karlsen and Ms Laing for their work in developing the Travel Writing unit and coordinating the excursion, as well as the staff who assisted with supervision and support throughout the day.

Our Year 9 Practical Engineering students are putting their creativity and problem-solving skills to the test as they design and build their own Battle Bots.

What began as a model car project has evolved into a full-scale engineering challenge, with students designing remote-controlled vehicles complete with their own unique battle features.

Throughout the project, students are experiencing the entire design process, from sketching initial concepts and creating 3D models to 3D printing components, soldering electronics and testing their creations.

By combining digital design, manufacturing, and electronics, students are developing valuable practical skills while learning the importance of creativity and refining ideas through trial and error.

The project will culminate in a Battle Bot tournament, where students will put their engineering skills to the ultimate test.

We can't wait to see the designs come to life and watch the Battle Bots in action!

In the Year 8 Kites unit, students explore the science of flight by investigating the forces that allow kites and gliders to stay airborne.

Beginning with the construction and testing of walkalong gliders, students develop an understanding of concepts such as lift, drag, and stability before examining a variety of kite designs, from traditional diamond kites to more complex box kites. They also investigate the properties of different materials and what makes them suitable for flight.

Students then apply this knowledge by designing, constructing, and testing their own kites, taking part in regular flying sessions and refining their designs in response to changing conditions.

Our new Pasta La Vista co-curricular program is already proving to be a hit with students.

Recently, 11 boys rolled up their sleeves and learnt the art of making fresh fettuccine from scratch. From mixing and kneading the dough to feeding it through the pasta machine, students experienced every step of the pasta-making process.

While the dough was resting, the boys watched Mr Burgio prepare Pasta Nerano, before enjoying a delicious tasting of the finished dish.

The best part? Each student took home their handmade fettuccine to share with their families. From simple tomato-based sauces to creamy favourites and pesto creations, the feedback the following day was overwhelmingly positive, with students proudly reporting just how delicious their homemade pasta had been.

Pasta La Vista is a fantastic opportunity for students to learn new skills, connect with others and enjoy the rewards of creating something from scratch.

Our Year 8 STEM Sail Lab students recently took their learning from the classroom to the water with an excursion to Fremantle Sailing Club.

Throughout the term, students have explored the science and principles behind sailing, developing an understanding of wind direction, sail control, and the factors that influence a vessel's movement and performance.

The excursion provided an opportunity to put this knowledge into practice as students applied their skills on the water, learning to safely and effectively control their sailboats while responding to changing conditions.

A wonderful day of hands-on learning and discovery for our aspiring sailors.

Over the past two days, our Year 8 students stepped away from their regular timetable to participate in a series of Retreat and Development Day activities designed to support their growth as learners, leaders and young men.

A highlight of the two days was the Year 8 Retreat, ‘Finding my Path to Growth’, where students were encouraged to reflect on their unique talents and gifts. Supported by their peer, our Year 11 Developing Leaders, and staff, they explored the idea that each person has a purpose and a responsibility to nurture and develop their strengths for the benefit of others.

Students also took part in Rock and Water activities, building self-awareness, resilience and positive relationships through practical challenges and teamwork.

Complementing these experiences, students explored their own character strengths through the VIA Char-acter Strengths Youth Survey, reflecting on how qualities such as kindness and perseverance can help them live meaningful lives and contribute positively to their communities.

These days provided valuable opportunities for students to reflect and better understand themselves, while continuing to build the skills and character that will support them throughout their journey at CBC Fremantle and beyond.

A special thank you to our Year 11 Developing Leaders, whose support and leadership helped make the experience so meaningful for our Year 8 students.

We also extend our sincere thanks to the staff who generously shared their expertise, and guidance, helping to create two engaging and impactful days of learning and growth.
