It has been amazing to watch my daughter start to dance and interact with music. Children love music, and what better way to cultivate the values we hope to see in the next generation than through songs, rhymes, joyful dances and beautiful storybooks.

Hi there, I'm Freya, and I believe that music belongs to everyone!

Little Folk Music is my passion project, so here's a little bit more about me.

I studied performance on the viola at UWA before working as a freelancer, music administrator and string teacher. After a brief stint as an arts administrator in a bleak Melbourne winter, I decided to pack my bags and move to Hungary to learn all about the Kodaly philosophy of music education. More about Kodaly later! When I came back to Perth I did my Dip Ed and got a job teaching strings and classroom music in Perth's Northern suburbs. I love my job, but I wanted to connect and share with my own community here in Freo. And so, a couple of months into my maternity leave, Little Folk Music was born!
