In an emergency, you're rarely working alone.

Good first aid isn't just about knowing CPR.

It's about communicating, working as a team, allocating tasks and keeping your head when things get chaotic.

Our practical scenarios give participants the opportunity to practise those skills together — because real emergencies don't always happen neatly, one person at a time.

Train together. Respond together.

What you don't see behind the training room…

A lot of preparation goes into a Northern Response Training session.

Scenarios are planned. Equipment is prepared. Moulage is set up. Presentations are built. Manikins are checked. Resources are packed.

And sometimes Manny gets volunteered for things he definitely didn't sign up for. 😂

The goal is simple:

Make training practical, relevant and memorable.

Because good training doesn't happen by accident.

Sometimes first aid gets messy. 🩸

We use realistic moulage and simulated injuries during training because recognising what you're looking at is part of being prepared.

Road rash. Burns. Serious bleeding. Open wounds. Traumatic injuries.

They're very different when you're looking at a realistic injury rather than a picture on a slide.

We don't just talk about first aid. We practise it.

First aid training isn't meant to be just sitting in a classroom.

At Northern Response Training, we like to get people moving, thinking and actually doing.

Our training includes practical scenarios where participants have to assess the situation, communicate, make decisions and put their skills into practice.

Because when something actually happens, there's no PowerPoint slide telling you what comes next.

Train for the real thing.

First aid for riders isn't just CPR and bandages.

When a motorbike crash happens, the injuries can be very different from the situations people normally imagine when they think about first aid.

Our Motorbike Crash Response Training uses practical, scenario-based situations to help riders think through what they might actually face — including major bleeding, embedded objects, serious trauma, helmet considerations and managing a casualty until help arrives.

This weekend we were back into the practical side of things. 🩸🏍️

Because knowing what to do is one thing.

Being prepared to do it when the adrenaline is pumping is another.

Northern Response Training
Practical. Real-world. Relevant.

EDIT: Apparently my fog brain forgot to include today’s team! 🤦‍♀️😂 Thanks to Dan Riebke and his boys, Kurtis and Noah, for joining us today — and to Vicki for taking a chance on us and bringing her ED nursing experience and knowledge along. It was great having you all there!

Today was one of those Northern Response Training days where the first aid mannequins probably deserve hazard pay.

A few snaps from today’s Motorbike Crash Response Training — lots of practical work, a fair amount of fake blood, and thankfully not a single member of the public called 000 on us!

We put the group through some pretty realistic situations, working through everything from serious bleeding and injuries to managing that “crazy bystander.” 😳😂

And yes… I forgot the helmet photos again. 🤦‍♀️😂
Apparently I can remember the fake blood — but “take photos during the helmet section” continues to escape me.

Meanwhile, hubby has now disappeared off to do even more first responder training tonight, because apparently one full day of training wasn't enough.

When you're trying to prepare training resources for tomorrow... and the printer decides it has other plans.

Because apparently even our equipment needs first aid sometimes. 😂

After a little troubleshooting, our card printer is back up and running and we're getting the final resources ready for tomorrow's training.

A lot happens behind the scenes before participants walk through the door — printing resources, preparing scenarios, checking equipment, setting up practical activities and making sure everything is ready to go.

It's not always glamorous...

But it's all part of making sure our training days run smoothly.

Northern Response Training — practical training, prepared properly.
