HIPPY Frankston North

HIPPY Frankston North The HIPPY Program is a free 2 year program for families with a child turning 3 years old by 30 April, that helps to build skills and confidence.

HIPPY encourages a love of learning and empowers parents & carers to be their children’s first teachers. HIPPY stands for Home Interaction Program for Parents and Youngsters. HIPPY is the most effective way to provide early childhood learning in the home, improving children’s school-readiness. Children’s earliest and most powerful learning comes from their family. Through a structured education pr

ogram, HIPPY helps parents lay the foundations for success at school by teaching their child literacy, numeracy and language skills as well as physical skills, so they develop a love of learning that lasts throughout their lives. HIPPY children graduate from the program with literacy and numeracy skills above the Australian average. The program:

Encourages a love of learning;
Increases the likelihood that children enjoy and do well at school;
Promotes language, listening and concentration skills;
Builds children’s self-esteem and confidence in learning; and
Improves relationships between parents and children. Parents are supported to shape their child’s learning opportunities around their strengths and interests; and to bring learning off the activity pack page and into the world. We call it ‘Everywhere Learning’: parents take HIPPY activities to everyday situations or in places, encouraging other family members to get involved. The Brotherhood of St Laurence holds the licence to operate HIPPY in Australia. The Age 3 Home Interaction Program for Parents and Youngsters is proudly supported by the Jacobsen Family Foundation.

Do you provide care for kids under six in Frankston City? This one is for you.

Time is running out for you to have your say on the current Municipal Early Years Plan engagement project and enter the draw for a $100 Prezzee voucher, ahead of the project’s completion next week.

Parents, make no mistake - raising a child is HARD! There’s no instruction manual, no do not disturb button, and ChatGPT won’t change a nappy or reason with a grumpy toddler for you 😡

Some might even say that it takes a village 😉

Thankfully, there is Council support available to help parents through the tough times!

From our 13 Maternal and Child Health Services clinics, playgroups, childcare and education services and the Best Start initiative, Frankston City Council is already a child-friendly City, offering a helping hand for families of children up to six-years-old.

Later this year, Council will develop a new Municipal Early Years Plan (MEYP) – and we want your input 🫵

The MEYP provides a framework for how we will work in partnership with government, services and the community build positive outcomes for children and their families.

By sharing your lived experiences with our team, you can help inform how the plan can best provide that helping hand to parents, carers and service providers in their children’s formative years.

Head to engage.frankston.vic.gov.au/municipal-early-years-plan-2026-2030 to have your say before April 1.
