Consistency in childcare/kindergarten environments are important so children know what to expect. When they environment is consistent then a child can slowly learn, this space for me is different and I am safe.

Its important to understand that children will spend time pushing boundaried of a new environment to try create the same consistent patterns they are used too. So your role as an educator is to recognise this and hold firm to a new pattern. This requires a lot of self-regulation and reflection for the educator who might be present with a very dysregulated child.

The 3 things I'd considered when I had behaviour in my kinder room:

- my relationship with that child.
- the room layout, activities and expectations.
- the developmental abilities of the children in the room and how to provide activities that match their ability.

Working with Semann and Slattery has been such a highlight in my path to working with Early Years Educators to strengthen every day practices.

I used to stand and the kinder door and sprinkle glitter on kids as they entered asking them to make a wish for what they wanted to be that day. There was so much glitter, so much magic.

Being desceibed as a fairy had been consistent, not just as a kinder teacher but workplaces that followed. People would watch me wonder in circles "your like a fairy" they'd say.

We all need a little magic, some imagination, some sparkle. It was the reason i loved being a teacher. One of the kids put the princess crown on me in the dress up area and i attended the photo shoot forgetting it was on my head. đŸ˜‚
