EASTERS WRAP UP POST + PHOTO DUMP PT 1🍍😱

This year we sent 7 teams and 7 judges to Sydney for the annual 3v3 Nationals!
After a whirlwind week, heres the results!

TEAMS ⬇️
UQ Manta Ray (Owen, Dot, Doris) broke 13th progressing all the way to the Semi-finals! ‼️

UQ Orca (Cheryl, Priscilla, Seetha) broke 15th, bowing out in a 2-1 split Octo-final 🦈

UQ Dugong (Yani, A***n, Caelan) was the 2nd reserve break team, finishing on 4/6 wins! 🦭

UQ Clownfish (Laura, Sandy, Rachael) also finished on 4/6 wins, narrowly missing the break on speaks! ✨️

UQ Pufferfish (Alice, Milind, Lily) went into the silent round live, finishing up on 3/6 wins! 💕

UQ Sailfish (Redmond, Oscar, Matilda) & UQ Pom Pom Crab (Lily, Daniel, Abi) finished up on 3/6 wins! 🐠🦀

JUDGES⬇️
Vishaak & Harry broke as judges, judging nearly every final! Vishaak chaired the grand final, Harry panelled! Vishaak was 8th best judge overall 🔥

Our novice judges (Hamish, Yuna, Nia, Samuel & Caroline) finished the tournament either panelling or chairing at their first debating tournaments! ‼️🔥

Proud to announce our contingent for Sydney Easter’s 2026!! All the best to our teams heading down this Easter break! 🍍

Trial for Easters! We are sending a 7 team, 6 judge contingent down to Sydney over the Midsemester break (April 6-10). ‼️

Trials are March 7th & 8th (weekend of W2)

AWGMDC WRAP UP POST 🍍💜

Is this the start of the UQDS’s comeback as a society that wins debating tournaments???

Our UQ Contingent Teams Violet, Lavender and Lilac competed at AWGMDC online (except Jemma and Yani who were sacrificial in person queens at UNSW) on 24th-26th October ✨✨

UQ Violet (Priscilla and Bio) won the ESL Grand Final!! Bio was also the Best Speaker of the Grand Final 💜💜

UQ Lavender (Dot and Laura) broke 11th 🪻🪻

UQ Lilac (Cheryl and Alice) *Siri play We Don’t Talk About Bruno but make it UQ Lilac* 🙅‍♀️🙅‍♀️ Due to force majeure UQ Lilac did not participate in the entirety of the competition 🤭🤭
