Today’s interviews were another step towards building that team.

For families, these will be the people welcoming your child and getting to know what matters to you. For educators, they’ll be colleagues to learn alongside, exchange ideas with and turn to for support.

A full day of back-to-back interviews for Indigo ELC Tumbi—and an important step in building its team. 🌿

Recruitment is where a centre’s culture begins. The people we bring together will shape how children are welcomed, how families feel heard and how educators support one another each day.

For Tumbi, we’re looking for educators who take children’s ideas seriously, bring curiosity to their own practice and want to contribute to a team where knowledge and ideas are shared.

We want each person to bring something of themselves, too: their interests, experience and the possibilities they see for children.

Add water. Give it a stir. See what changes. Try again.

At Indigo Forresters Beach, soil, water and simple tools gave children plenty to work with—and freedom to decide what happened next.

As they mixed, poured and squished, they could feel the textures change and explore what their hands and tools could do. There was no finished product to copy or single way to get it right.

That freedom matters. Children need opportunities to test an idea, make adjustments and follow their curiosity.

Sometimes the most inviting starting point is a patch of dirt, some water and time to get properly absorbed. 🌿

Hundreds of ladybugs. And educators who recognised a reason to stop. 🐞

On their latest Indigo Wild outing, our Green Point children came across something worth a closer look. The team made space for them to investigate, observe and ask questions, allowing the discovery to shape what happened next.

That takes thoughtful teaching: noticing what has captured children’s attention, recognising its possibilities and giving them time to pursue it.

It’s one of the reasons we keep returning to nature. A familiar place can offer something entirely unexpected—and children deserve the chance to linger when it does.

There’s something powerful about children growing up knowing they have something to contribute to their community. 🌱

Our Green Point team has become custodian of the local Yarning Circle Community Patch—and children and educators will help shape its next chapter together.

This will be a place to get hands into the soil, turn scraps into compost, nurture plants and discover the journey from seed to something we can share and eat. A place where children can see the difference their care makes, over weeks, seasons and harvests.

Helping guide the project is Karina, a qualified permaculturalist, alongside a fellow educator bringing extensive experience from her own home kitchen garden. Their knowledge gives children so much to draw on—and room to make discoveries together.

What we love most is that this learning reaches beyond our centre gates. It connects children with a shared place in their neighbourhood and gives them a meaningful part in caring for it.

Congratulations to our Green Point team on taking on this responsibility with such enthusiasm and purpose. We can’t wait to follow what the children and educators grow here, and the connections that grow alongside it. 💚
