Our Kindy and Pre-Primary enjoyed celebrating Mother’s Day with a very special afternoon tea this week. 💐

Students proudly prepared delicious scones with jam and cream to share with their special guests, followed by fun activities and precious quality time together. It was wonderful to see so many smiles, laughter and special memories being made.

Thank you to all of our mums, grandmothers and special loved ones who joined us to celebrate. ❤️

Harmony Day Celebrations
What an incredible two days of celebrating culture, connection and community at Forrestdale Primary School. Our Harmony Day festivities began on Thursday 19 March with a wonderful assembly from Room 8 (Year 1/2), setting the tone for a celebration of belonging and diversity.
Across Thursday and Friday, every class took part in a range of hands‑on activities that highlighted cultures from around the world.
Students enjoyed:
• Playdough pizza making
• Bollywood dancing
• Boomerang decorating
• Chinese paper lanterns
• Mosaic elephants
• Crescent moon art
• Clay Māori‑inspired jewellery
• A whole‑school world map showcasing the many cultures that make up our community

It was fantastic to see students proudly wearing orange for harmony or dressing in their traditional cultural clothing, bringing colour and meaning to our celebrations.
Harmony Day reminds us that everyone belongs, and our students truly embodied that message. Thank you to our staff, students and families for helping create such a joyful and inclusive event.

What a fantastic evening we had at our Fathering Project Sunset Lawn Bowls & BBQ on Thursday!

It was wonderful to see so many dads and families come together to enjoy a relaxed game of lawn bowls, a delicious BBQ, and plenty of great conversation. Events like these are such a great way to strengthen connections within our school community.

Thank you to everyone who attended and helped make the evening so enjoyable. We’re already looking forward to the next one!

This week we said goodbye to our wonderful Music teacher, Mrs Tracey Rick.

After an incredible 35 years of teaching, including the past two and a half years sharing her passion for music with the students of Forrestdale Primary School, Tracey has made the difficult decision to take leave for the remainder of the year and retire from 2027 due to ongoing voice complications.

Tracey has brought so much joy, creativity and music into our school community, and her impact on our students will be remembered for years to come. We thank her for the care, passion and dedication she has shown to our children and wish her all the very best for the future.

Below is Tracey’s farewell message to our school community. 🎶

ONE LAST HAPPY DAY

Dear Parents and Carers,

It is with a very heavy heart that I announce I will be taking leave for the remainder of 2026 and then retiring from 2027. I have ongoing complications with my voice that will lead to irreparable damage if I continue to teach. This year is my 35th year of teaching and thirty of those have been as a music specialist. I am very passionate and enthusiastic about my subject and my voice is my main tool with which I teach. My doctor has advised me that this is an injury that I can no longer ignore.

I am so grateful that I got to spend my last years teaching at FPS and will miss the community and my little ‘bush’ classroom immensely. My consolation is that I will have your kiddies engraved on my heart forever as my last cohort of students. I will say my goodbyes to the children today.

I wish to extend my thanks to the admin team and staff at FPS for their ongoing support and for always having my back. Thank you for your support with the music program over the last two and a half years, and I hope there are songs from our repertoire that bring happy memories to you and my gorgeous kiddies.

Happy Day
Tracey Rick
