Special Note:
As Autistics we have many different ways we like to body double.
Some like to chat, some move around, and others need library quiet etc.
To accommodate this we can arrange a ‘no-talking’ breakout space available on request.
Jade will move between spaces but will mainly be in the main room or in the 1:1 consults.
Or people can just mute the sound in the main room.
You are welcome to move between spaces to find the environment and energy that works best for you.

Break Out Rooms
After Jade’s orientation the following rooms will be available:
Main Room-Quiet room
Talkie Room
1:1 session room
If you come after orientation you can click on break out rooms in the Zoom toolbar and select your space.

Special Guest: We have the amazing Rebecca McCash of FutureTech Australia joining us as a special guest for our August session.

As shared by Dr Sharon last session, Rebecca is facilitating an online Learning Circle with the Social Enterprise Council of NSW & ACT (SECNA) on navigating changes in NDIS following the Senate inquiry’s final report (details below).

They have generously agreed to come along and give us a summary of what the discussion yielded 🙏🏽

As Autistic Social Entrepreneurs this is an opportunity to lean into the 'Lemons into Lemonade' Effectuation principle and learn from a pioneering Autistic social entrepreneur.
Don't forget to book in for this session-not to be missed...

Rebecca's Learning Circle Details:

The NDIS landscape is changing rapidly, and for many small, community-based organisations, the uncertainty is already having very real consequences.

This won’t be a webinar with someone pretending to have all the answers. It will be an open, unrecorded conversation where social enterprises, service providers, advocates and community leaders can:
• unpack what the reforms may mean in practice
• share how their organisations are responding
• discuss how we protect both participants and the sustainability of our services
• explore how we can better align our voices and advocate together

As someone leading a small, neurodivergent-led organisation that relies heavily on NDIS-funded participation supports, I know how difficult it is to plan, reassure families and protect jobs while the ground keeps shifting underneath us...

Just a reminder:
ASE has been moved to the new booking system.
All sessions will need to be booked in to receive the link.

Already registered?
🔗 Log in at neurokindred.com/login/ and head to the Bookings tab
📋 Not on the new system yet? Register at neurokindred.com/welcome-to-neurokindred/

When you book, you'll get a calendar invite with the Zoom link inside.
Each session has its own link, sent straight to you when you book.
If your plans change, please cancel from your dashboard so someone on the waitlist can take the spot.

I thought I’d share a little about why peer groups focused on these particular intersecting experiences are so very necessary.

Religious trauma takes place in relationship, in community, in families-usually unidentified neurodivergent families-places where betrayal cuts deep and trust in others is forever affected. As such it is ‘in relationship’ that reclaiming and healing needs to occur.

Whilst I believe therapeutic work is powerful and needed-I trully feel the corrective group/community relational experience is incredibly necessary. It certainly was and is for me.

But what can that look like, feel like, be like-how can ‘counter-conditions’ be created so maybe the possibility of connecting can occur? Can community exist without coercion, without ‘group think’, without surveillance, without obligation?

Peer groups offer the flattened power structure that can be conducive to these conditions. Facilitated space where everyone is unpacking and detangling.
A shared experience of deconstruction and reclaimation.
And memes-always relatable memes, and songs and art that help lighten and ground.

Those are some initial thoughts and I have shared more here: https://youtu.be/7khfZaK1vkY?si=XtO448vHwwjObI7_

🏳️‍🌈The Gay Agenda: Q***r Autistics Discussion Group is on Tuesday.

Description: The Gay Agenda is somewhere to think. Once a month, one big idea about q***r and neurodivergent life, picked and opened by one of us, talked through together. Lived experience leads it, because the people who live this are the experts on it.

When: Tuesday 25th August
Time:
11am to 12.30pm (AEST)
10.30am-12pm (ACST)
9-10.30am (AWST)
Always: Fourth Tuesday
Book: https://www.neurokindred.com/bookings

How it runs: someone brings a topic. It can be a two-minute seed or a full session with a few slides.
Then the room takes over.
No lecture, no right answers.
You can talk, type in the chat, or just listen.
Passing is always fine.

Booking has moved to a new system.
New to Neurokindred and those who are transferring from old system:
You will need to make a member account and book your next session through it.
It takes about five minutes the first time, and only the once.

Here’s how it works now:
-You book each session on its own. -No standing booking, choose the dates you want one at a time.
-Every session has its own Zoom link.
-An old link won’t let you in, so always use the one for the session you booked.
-Your Zoom links live in your Hub, on the My Groups tab.
-Sign in any time and they’re right there.
-Spaces are more limited.
-If you’ve booked and can’t make it, cancel the booking. It opens the spot for the next person on the waitlist.
