What an incredible gift for our school community!

Today, Grand Avenue State School was thrilled to receive two handwritten messages of encouragement from Queensland rugby league legends Billy Slater and Johnathan Thurston.

Thanks to a chance encounter in Melbourne, these personal messages were kindly collected and shared with our school by the family of one of our staff members. Billy even took a photo holding a letter addressed to Grand Avenue State School!

We love opportunities like this to show our students that success comes from hard work, determination and believing in yourself.

A huge thank you to Billy Slater and Johnathan Thurston for taking the time to inspire our students and community.

Our Years 4–6 Athletics Carnival will be held on Wednesday 17 June. We are looking forward to a fantastic day of participation, sportsmanship and fun!

We encourage families to review the program before the day and ensure students come prepared with:

📢 Talk & Tour with the Principal – Postponed

Due to the ongoing weather conditions, we have made the decision to postpone our Talk & Tour with the Principal event.

The event will now be held on Thursday 18 June at 9:15am.

Yesterday, our students proudly represented Grand Avenue at the Term 2 Chess Tournament at Jindalee. A special congratulations to one of our teams for achieving an outstanding 2nd Place! 🎉👏

We would also like to recognise all students for playing with integrity and those who received Merit Ribbons for their excellent performances throughout the day.

Our chess players continue to achieve amazing results and represent our school with pride. Well done to all students involved. We are so proud of you! ♟️⭐
