Book Week 2026 ~ “A Symphony of Stories” 📚🎶
Thank you to all the parents for supporting the day with dressing up the children and cheering them on in the annual parade! This year’s theme, A Symphony of Stories, celebrates how every book, character, and imagination plays a unique part in one massive, colorful melody. We certainly saw favorite storybook characters come off the page and march into the spotlight!

Excitingly, we had a special visit from current AFL players for the Western Bulldogs - Riley Sanders, Jedd Busslinger, and Lachlan Smith ❤️🤍💙
They came to speak with children from our 5/6 Hub, who were thrilled to welcome them. We are so fortunate to be located close to their training facilities and to share these experiences with our school community. A big thank you to Michelle for facilitating such an exciting opportunity for the children at St John’s! Woof woof! Go Doggies!!!!! ❤️🤍💙

We are excited to kick off 2026 Book Week, ‘A Symphony of Stories’ with our dress up parade 📚🎶 We will once again be supporting Reading Out of Poverty (ROOP) Reading Out Of Poverty (ROOP) with gold coin donations on the day!

We have also been busy creating some read along videos of the Book Week books to play each day, as well as welcome our families into learning spaces for a shared reading afternoon 📖
We are looking forward to celebrating together🎉

Feast Day of St. Mary of the Cross MacKillop 🤍 A time to honour her lifelong dedication to educating children in poverty and helping the vulnerable.

Celebrations at St. John’s included a beautiful prayer gathering led by the Year 6s where we presented our Winter donations to Big Group Hug! The children then spent time in their house teams where they made encouragement cards for Big Group Hug recipients and participated in other activities related to learning more about Mary MacKillop. We also enjoyed a special lunch and an outside disco where a self organised conga line did eventuate 🪩

What a celebration filled with joy was our 💯 days for our Prep children! A HUGE thank you to our Prep team for organising such a memorable day, including breakfast, fun activities and a play at the playground! We feel so blessed to be part of the children’s learning journey for these 100 days and look forward to so many more at St. John’s 💙💙

What an incredible night for some of our Year 6 children! 🕊️✨ Our amazing kids received the Sacrament of Confirmation yesterday, marking a beautiful milestone in their spiritual journeys.

We are so proud of the thoughtful, caring and confident young people they are growing up to be. Thank you to our dedicated educators, families and parish community for guiding and preparing them for this special day. This week our Two Hub children visited Melbourne Zoo. As practising scientists, they used their senses to investigate the interdependent relationships in the natural world. They observed different animals, learned about the basic needs of living things and how these living creatures work with their habitats to survive. This information will contribute to their overall knowledge building of Biology through our current inquiry project🌴🐸🌿🐢🦎🐅🐒🦍🦘
