“An answer to a lack of representation of Country amid the brutalist architecture of Victoria University’s Footscray Park Campus, the Moondani Balluk garden now forms a “First Nations first” heartbeat for the institution.

Moondani Balluk executive director Karen Jackson championed the project to bring a welcoming space that invites visitors to learn about Country and how they might connect with and protect it.”

Located amid the brutalist buildings of a university campus in Melbourne’s west, a new garden with a deep cultural heritage aspect invites visitors to learn of First Nations’ past use of the site and how they use it today, while also conveying how it might be protected into the future.
