What does this mean for you?
This centre-specific page will no longer be active, and its content will not be available going forward.

At Oz Education, we follow strict guidelines to protect the privacy and safety of every child in our care — a responsibility we take very seriously. One of the key ways we do this is by never revealing the location of any child online.

This centre-based Instagram page was inherited from the previous owner, and while it served its purpose in the past and during the transition of ownership, having a page linked to a specific location no longer aligns with our privacy standards. By merging this page with our main Oz Education page, we can better safeguard our children while continuing to share valuable early learning content with all families in our community.

Melton City Little Athletics Centre many thanks for your generous donation of jumping mats and other equipment. The children enjoyed jumps and tumbles to test them out today.

Early literacy is deeply embedded in our Kinder program. Each week our classrooms feature letter of the week activities alongside thier other learning opportunities.This week the Kangaroo class worked on activities inspired by the letter F. A forest sensory table, a Farm small world area with books and animals as well as playing letter recognition games at group times and playing treasure hunt inside and outdoors looking for 'F' . For the older children headed to school next year we offered a simple workbook activity as well to help practice those big school classroom skills in a relaxed way. We have started Yoga classes each Friday here at Oz Education Footscray Early Learning Centre. Run by our Koala room leader the children practiced different stretches and moves with educators modelling and supporting the learning. Exploring deliberate breathing and yoga moves can enhance children's well-being in both mind and body.

NAIDOC Week
After lots of learning and celebration of indigenous culture and perspectives this week in our classrooms today Margaret ran a cooking class with the children featuring roasted wattle seeds sourced from . One of our grandmothers was kind enough to share her kid proof, nut free, dairy free, shortbread recipe which can be made into any flavour. Including cocoa and wattleseed!

The children had lots of fun making this and possibly even more sampling thier hard work at afternoon tea time.

Every month there are different events and days celebrating our world and giving opportunities for children to learn. Last month we were learning about Minibeasts and the role they play in our ecosystems with a focus on bees for World Bee Day.

Here are five fun facts about bees:
1. Bees have five eyes. (Strange but true)
2. Bees communicate through dances: The "waggle dance" is a way for bees to communicate the location and direction of food sources.
3. Bees can fly at speeds of up to 32kph: They beat their wings about 200 times per second.
4. Bees are master builders: They build intricate, hexagonal honeycombs.
5. Bees can see ultraviolet light: This helps them see patterns on flowers that humans cannot see.

Last Month we did lot of reflecting and learning on reconciliation here at Footscray ELC. From sensory tables and Stories celebrating connection to Country both books and digital to learning about different symbols and working with the children to make permanent story stones in our play yard.

Are you looking forward to the long weekend? The children at Footscray ELC have been crafting and cooking and exploring some of the common Easter themes. Todays special afternoon tea was fruity Easter bunny pancakes thanks to the Kangaroo class children. Tomorrows our last day of the week for Easter activities before we close for the long weekend this Friday.
